Those that want them have them. B&Q and the like have racks of them to choose from... but if you have a stink in your kitchen it is likely from the disposal unit. Few if any would pass a sanitary health check. Unless you clean them down with equally toxic bleach.

Just use it properly, ie, running water when

I have one, don't use it.

When I first saw one, it took maybe 1 sec to figure out what is was and its purpose. In door bathrooms are pretty cool too. No more late night walks to the outhouse.

Some people have them, they are usually called waste disposal units.
There was one in my daughters house when she bought it, but she had it taken out.
They are considered less than hygienic by most people . And not at all Green. Foodwaste is collected weekly in the uk and processed with garden rubbish into compost.
If you grind it down the kitchen sink, it has to be processed by the water company at the sewage works, adding to the process of purifying waste water before it is returned to the rivers.

It was once encouraged to have one in order to cut down on the waist in landfills though. I suppose they deemed it made sense for the people who lived in the cities.

It's efficient compared to putting it in the trash to go to a landfill.
We compost 99% of ours, but that option isn't practical in cities.
And in Michiganistan, we've no shortage of water. Mine is free.
Plus, all water going down our drain is filtered before it returns
to the aquifer.
