Welcome to RF, Charlene.
I think you'll find that there is more than one Hinduism, with many conflicting ideas and traditions.

You can make a thread about questions you need/want answered. Like put all your questions in one post and we will do our best to answer them :)

Tell me when it would be convenient for you. I will join (and so perhaps some other members too). True, we are not much of chat people. Perhaps that way we could start some chat in the forum. I am with Indian Standard time (GMT- 5:30 hrs.)

Yeah, what timezone are you in Charlene? Might take some organising :p

I'm typically in GMT, but at the moment GMT+1 in Spain :)

Best time for three of us to visit the Chat Room:

Others also welcome.

None of us three is in a time zone like in US (or Russia, Canada too). Therefore, I tried to find out a time when all three of us can most conveniently interact. GMT - or +. If anyone else wants to join, I will add his/her GMT - or + and see what is the best option.

When it is 10 pm for Kirran, it starts getting late (though not for Charlene or myself). Basically all problems are because of Kirran (;)). Charlene and myself can chat any time, we have a time difference of just 1:30 hrs.

ISKCON from the viewpoint of Krishna centric bhakti based on Personal Form also has a large collection of books, I would recommend for you the set of the Caitanya Caritamrita (Caitanya-caritāmṛta) of the life of the great Lord Caitanya by Prabhupad:

With all respect due, I think the Caitanya Caritamrta is not such a good recommendation for somebody who supposedly knows very little about Hinduism. For beginners with interest in Krishna, the Bhagavad Gita may be a better suggestion.

No, just as in those times, so today, a devotee's expression of that prem bhakti and fearless love before all opposition is the best "101" lesson for a beginner.

In that way no amount of beating can be strong enough to beat God out of their heart.

What is sadhana Kirran?
Sādhanā is effort towards some end. Sādhan is something that one uses in the sadhana. Siddhi is fulfillment of the effort and achievement of the goal. Sadhya is which is feasible to be done/achieved. Siddha is one who has achieved his/her goal. I am checking the word 'siddheya' to see if it is the goal. :)
ps. did not find it, but there must be something close to it.

101 is to understand. Then if devotion is one's way, go that way. The other ways are 'jnana' and action (karma - Gandhi, Florence Nightingale, etc.). To understand is most important in Hinduism rather than blind faith. :).

But if you WANT to learn about prem bhakti, then the devotee is your God.

So if someone WANTS to understand and look at THAT prem bhakti, THAT is where you start. 101 for Bhakti.

If you WANT to learn the Void, then you start by entering the Void. And then if you want to learn Prem Bhakti, then you start by entering the Devotee.
