Something I like about the Westbro Baptist Church

I also like that the main members are aging.

according to one of the sons, the next generation is more radicalized than Fred - i dont think things are going to get any better when he dies.

but, the thing i like about westboro baptist is that watching a documentary provided me with one of my favorite protest stories ever. they were protesting a military funeral, and the family of the deceased found out ahead of time and were terrified that the feeling of the ceremony would be threatened. so a motorcycle club comprised of veterans came and surrounded the protesters with their bikes. once the hate-chanting started the club began revving their engines at deafening volumes, even with their megaphones and loudspeakers none of the guests heard a single word they had to say and all their backs were to the signs. problem solved.

since hearing this, i've always thought about starting a band with the sole purpose of touring with westboro baptist and setting up ridiculous sound systems for outdoor shows - that way everyone would have to listen to sludgy noise-punk instead of hate speech.

How was this found out?

Some of his thirteen children have left the family, and some of them have talked. There is corroboration from a former girlfriend, other pastors acquainted with the family, and others. Phelps abused his wife and children, and apparently used illegal drugs, too.

Its that they hate equally, gays and lesbians and bisexuals.I mean I prefer that to the homophobe who hates gay men, but thinks girl on girl action is hot, just makes me facepalm

Something I like about them is that they're honest. I prefer an open enemy to religious hypocrites who talk about how they "love" gay people and then do everything they can to harm us.

Those are the worst reasons I've ever heard to justify "liking" this hateful, woefully deluded group of dangerously psychotic nut bags.
Recognizing that an honest enemy is better than a false friend should not be taken as approval.

How about liking them because Fred Phelps has nice teeth? Is that better?

Just looked a picture, he does have surprisingly good teeth. I'd love the number to his dentist. Perhaps I should attend a service, fake interest, casually compliment Fred on his teeth and ask him who he sees. Obviously there's no "gnashing of teeth" at this church.

Ya know i had a strange dream about 2 weeks ago where it was like i was playing this game i've been playing online and i got this "skill" called "gnashing of teeth". In this game the extra skills/attacks you have asside from just plain attacking has buttons with pictures, and this "gnashing of teeth" one had kind of like gnarly lookin dog teeth as its picture. I shrugged this off thinking i'd been playing too much or too late, but it struck me odd when you said it so i looked it up on google. The scriptures it involves kind of scared me HAHA, just.. weird i guess... maybe?

I disagree.
They are up front in your face honest with their bigotry, homophobia, etc.

Not like those who preach to millions how gays are sinful ******** headed straight for hell then leave the church for some hot homosexual action while high on drugs.

Whatever word is in the stars, they've probably said it.
Did you see the sign that said "**** eat poop"
A documentary journalist asked Shirley, "Where did you hear that?"
And she says, "That hun, is a FACT!"
They're so sooooo smart let me tell you

I didn't know that they are classified as a hate group. That is a start i suppose. That makes me feel better. At least they are being watched so they won't get the brilliant idea to start giving God a helping hand in sending the world to hell, and start killing people.

What this really means is that Christians stand in the way of the enjoyment of evil. Shame on them for wanting to love them enough to seek to get them out of evil into the good.

The true hypocrites are the ones who say they love God and then perpetuate evil by encouraging homosexuality.

I can't say much about this group since I don't know much. They did come to our town and picketed the high school and the church that has the gay bishop and the state house.
What I read said something about they were protesting the schools encouragement of homosexuality. I know there is a gay club at the school but to the best of my kinowledge it is not a sanctioned group. I agree that it is not Christian to have a gay bishop so I can understand that activity. I also do not approve of gay marriage so it seemed appropriate to me that they should picket the state house.

Interesting interview! There is little doubt in my mind that the theollogy appears to be somewhat aberrational but not really far from the truth. I don't find what these girls had to say to be hateful. The easiest way to hate the wicked is to say nothing at all to them and stay behind stained glass windows. The kind of ministry that Jesus employed was an in-your -face description of those who were evil as a brood of vipers. I suppose to some that would not be considered aloving thing to say but that is based on a worldy view of romantic love that is nowhere near the reality of the love of God.

At my old school Westboro Baptist church showed up when we were doing a play about a Homosexual person and their life and how he was tortured to death. They came with all of these signs that were anti Gay and they got on the news, it was quite an interesting event. I believe we do the play every year, so they may show up again next year.

They came to NYC not too long ago to protest outside two high schools, one Jewish, the other musical(they had openly gay students), with similar signs: "G-d hates gays" "G-d hates Jews" "G-d hates American."

Funny though, the schools and the community were ready for them and had signs(I wish I could remember what they said). The church wasn't here long. A day maybe.

"Give to Ceaser what belongs to Ceaser"
I'd say that also means let the laws be secular.
