I joined this forum earlier this year when I started to read the Bible. I'm just about finished it. I just have a quick, hopefully simple question. Can anyone tell me who the "sons of God" are referred to The Book of Job 1:6? Thanks in advance.
I believe the sons of God to be angels.
Hmm, I've read the term angels several times before "the sons of God" were mentioned for the first time here (NKJV) and thought it may have been another entity. And why did God have to ask Satan, "from where do you come?" surely He knew?
As angels have free will as man does, perhaps He was curious how they'd answer.
Thanks for your input. Talking about angels, what is their origin?
I believe they are all of us. Latter-day Saints believe we lived in God's presence prior to being born here on earth. We believe that when God presented His Plan of Salvation to His children, that we all shouted for joy (as described in Job 38:7).I joined this forum earlier this year when I started to read the Bible. It's always been my belief that they were created as man and woman were created...to serve God.

Created to serve God you say? What is He being served, what does He need? I wonder why He needed "a middle man" as in an angel?

Well, there are a couple of biblical indications that this is the case, but most of the details come from the uniquely LDS scriptures which we accept in addition to the Bible. Why is that? I mean, from where have you taken this belief?
I believe we were created solely to serve, love and honor God.
Although we (LDS) believe that we definitely should serve, love and honor God, this is not, in our view, the reason He created us. According to LDS doctrine, "Men are that they might have joy." (2 Nephi 2:25). We also believe that, as God himself explained, "For behold, this is my work and my glory -- to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." (Moses 1:39) I love the idea of a God whose plan is centered on the happiness of His sons and daughters. It makes it so easy for me to want to worship Him.I believe the meaning of our creation is a lot deeper then that. God does not "need" us in this context. This is just my opinion though.

If I told you a parable......God did not torture this man.....Whenever someone hears a voice inside their head they think it's God. God does not need to tempt us.......He is not worried, it is His universe not Satan's......Angels are beings created by very powerful ascended beings. They are created with fantastic abilities to fill specific universal tasks............They do not come from God nor do they even know God. They only know what they are told by the ascended beings.
Yes, God knew, it was for the others (including our) benefit.

Yeah, isn't that the truth? It's great how a simple question can create branches of more questions.
Seriously, you don't want to ask that question on this thread. To do so would take you so far off the topic of your OP, you'd never be able to find your way back. We actually have four volumes of scripture, of which the Bible is just one.Really? Unique scriptures? How did LDS come to have those?
