Southern Border - My Point Is Now Confirmed

The first paragraph mentions what I said. Migrants are turning themselves in immediately, a small % attempt to avoid detection.

"The Border Patrol recorded nearly 1.7 million apprehensions in the past year, eclipsing the record set in 2000. Still, the number of migrants crossing illegally is likely far below the all-time high."
You made the claim that 2,000,000 illegal aliens came across and turned themselves in. That’s not true.

Why are the numbers of illegal immigrants or as you say, immigrants in general, going up? I mean, since apparently it's not kosher to say "illegal immigrants." Even if they are here illegally and came here through non official POEs to avoid stress.
Probably due to pressures in the country that they came from. This began under Trump's watch. It was not his fault. He did not have it controlled any better than Biden did. It is merely more noticeable now since we can no longer close the borders. A pandemic is one of the few reasons that one can close the borders. Another would be if we were at war.

As I have said from the beginning, I am not against immigration. My wife is an immigrant!

I’m against unfettered, unchecked, porous borders.

Why you may ask?

Do we really need to ask? :)

I think, given what I've seen of complaints from the UK and other republics, that all immigrants (not green carders but immigrants) should definitely have to swear allegiance.

I did not think Trump was off the mark for trying to keep people from certain Islamic countries from immigrating here. He was stopped by the courts, but I think Congress would do well to consider preventing people in certain religions from immigrating. I think we should make exceptions for people who have done something good for America such as the translators who risked their lives for us in Iraq, but I think we need to be selective about immigration. Its because of what I'm hearing about UK, France, India, Malaysia and other places where Islam is. Its a movement that overturns governments and equality of citizens. It hasn't changed, and its still trying to overturn governments and institute sharia and get rid of banking and still institutes different levels of humanity for believers versus unbelievers. I don't think its going to change or become compatible with our constitution, and I don't want our constitution to conform to it ever. If the people across the sea want it fine, but I don't want to roll out the carpet for it.

I think Mexicans are essentially American, so I don't have any problem with Mexicans crossing our border provided they are good citizens in Mexico. I don't like the words Trump uses against Mexico or his railing about a stronger border with Mexico. If it was such a serious threat we'd need an equally hard border with Canada. If Mexicans want to immigrate and vote they must swear allegiance and learn English, but green cards should be easy for them to get. They and Canadians should get preferential treatment for green cards, and it should be streamlined and simple. We can compete for jobs. They are only jobs, and the more workers we have the more jobs and businesses there will be. Many modern countries are in trouble because they don't have enough workers. More workers is good, not bad.

I do see some incompatibilities with Mexico, because its hard to buy land in Mexico. That is fast becoming the case in the USA, too though and has nothing to do with Mexicans or Canadians. I think the language barrier is a serious problem; and our kids are already at a disadvantage because we have not been teaching our kids language early enough in public schools. I think it is wise and worthwhile to teach young students new languages. 'Mexican cartel' is a scary term, but you know what we have American cartels. We have guns. We have drugs. We have pimps. We have the same problems, mostly. Time may come when some of us need to move to Mexico to get way from the cartels.

Language training would do *much* to relieve concerns about the borders. Part of the real underlying concern is that we can't communicate with people in Mexico. We don't understand what they are saying. Its because our awesome free public education system has let us down.

I do not think American culture will be overrun if we open up the borders to immigrants. I do think we must do some filtering, specifically some ideological filtering. Its stupid to let people in who believe in overturning the government. Its just not smart.

Very good summary.

The only caveat is still to make sure that the processes are done in the country that they are emigrating from. Having lived in Venezuela, and been in Mexico, Honduras, Ecuador and Peru, drug cartels and gangs are quite prevalent and we still need to vet those who are coming!
