I hesitate to do that. I has to do with the Abramist view of creation. There used to be a lot of philosophical schools, Even within Judaism their were four mayor schools with very different ideas on God an Creation. But on order of Kings these were unified in one book with one vision. And the one vision that was agreed on made man the crown of creation.I didn't bother researching the cause of that, but if you're willing to explain it to me in short notices please do.

Before that animals were often held in great regard, equal even better than humans. The Greek for instance did not hold man particularly high as a species. It is not for nothing that they and other cultures had stories of the Fathergod in Heaven destroying mankind for becoming corrupt. They regarded mankind as the fourth mankind, each worse than the previous one. After Golden age came Silver age, Bronze age and Iron age. Bronze man was already deep in wars, but Iron man has even less feeling and is more egocentric and regards himself above all other creatures.
In the new unified vision Man was seen as superior through his rational thinking and God became the huge rational intellect that created creation. Man was seen as special in this creation and as through his intellect he was made in the image of his God. Other creatures were simply accessories made by God for Mankind to serve him and to nurture him. They did not have Divine spirit or soul. It was also widely believed they had no feelings or emotion or ability to think. Even now there are a lot of people who say that for instance fish feel no pain, though science proved otherwise. Science also proved that the same emotion can be found by animals sometimes even more.
But the ideology that Nature is simply there to serve mankind is what destroyed respect for animals. In ancient times animals were deeply revered for their special qualities and often regarded as messengers of the God. That is why see animal heads in Egyptian Gods. In contrast of man's pride, animals have a more noble nature than man. They are wondrous happy creatures. They have beautiful, balanced emotions. They love and defend one another. They feel sorrow and melancholy. Yet, there has never been a war between animal species. They know nothing about greed, envy, and hate. They live their entire lives without sin.
But iron age man only values intellect and thus has degraded animals to meat, fur, wool, ivory etc. Long before we had concentration camps of people we had concentration camps of animals. We build ever larger concentration camps every day. Millions of animals are locked up together and brutally butchered when they have enough meat. And these animals suffer more than we would suffer, for their senses are much sharper.
Why? Because Raahim, for Iron Man there is no God for Animals, not even for the animal we love most.
