Be at Peace with Others

It is very easy to say an irresponsible word that causes harm, or hurts the feelings of others, and then regret it afterwards when it's too late.

Most fights and disputes arise from irresponsible words, and a believer must always be very careful in the words spoken or written

(Al-Kalimah Amanah), i.e. each word we say is a trust, so be careful with each word you say. This is part of being God-conscious, and having piety in the heart, by feeling and knowing that God hears each word we say

The worst thing is for disputes to arise between Muslims, which are mainly for trivial matters as this upsets their unity and peace.

Make peace and be at peace with others, if you are searching for inner peace

Try To Help Others

Sometimes we get a chance to do something good to other people, but in order to do it we would have to go out of our way a bit, or our personal plans would need to be changed

To find more inner peace we need to try to come closer to God, and doing good to others with a sincere intention is one of the best ways to earn God's love, as He loves to see people deal kindly with others

As day turns into night, and the panorama of the universe changes with stars, billions of stars, fill the sky, a believer realizes how small this planet earth really is, and how great the Creator is

A time for reflection and contemplation

Praising God in recognition of His amazing creation, His amazing universe and what is beyond

Hours go by, and night turns into day, another change in the cosmic panorama, and another precious time to praise Allah

Muslims are commanded to praise Allah, especially at these two times of the day, as they are an important reminder which brings peace to the heart

Deal Kindly with People

We live in an age where most people don't have time for others, and where violence, crime and selfishness prevail in many places

In such an environment it is not easy to be unaffected, as what people around us does have an impact on our lives

In any case, as a Muslim it's important to maintain good manners and to deal with people in a kind way, even those who are hostile towards us. This needs a lot of patience, but God loves those who are patient

Being kind to others is an important way to gaining God's love and increasing in peace

Find Peace Through Submitting to the Will of God

We sometimes go through hardships not knowing where they will end nor how

When faced with such a situation, the best thing to do is to do one's best to solve the problem at hand then accept whatever outcome God chooses

At the time, we may not understand the wisdom, but later on we appreciate how that hardship turned out to be good on the long run

Submit to God's will and put your trust in Him, that is the road to inner peace

Be Humble

Sometimes a believer may think that they are special, or better than other people because they have more wealth, knowledge, status, ... etc, but in reality all these worldly matters are insignificant and should not lead to arrogance

Wealth comes and goes, as money may decrease after it was increasing

The same goes with knowledge. A person may think that they have a lot of knowledge, whereas in reality their knowledge is very limited

As for status, that also changes, as important positions disappear when people go on pension, ... etc

To be humble is to be close to God,
as He does not love those who are arrogant. Look at this amazing universe and contemplate the sky at night and compare your size and your knowledge with this immense universe

In reality, we are a drop of water in a vast ocean, a small grain of sand in a wide desert

So be humble if you are searching for inner peace

Don't Overload Yourself with Responsibilities

We all have responsibilities in life, and in the modern world of today life gets more complicated each year, with more speed, new technologies, and more stress all the time for most people

In such an environment one needs to find the right balance in order to live a life of peace
, and taking on too many responsibilities is often counter-productive

Try to reduce your daily load till you reach the right balance, and don't be in a hurry, as (imo) it's best to do a small number of tasks well than doing too many under stress and without perfection

Remember, this life is a mere transition, and we won't take our wealth with us to the Hereafter, so live a balanced life if you are searching for peace

Benefit from Each Hardship to Increase in Peace

Hardships are part of life, which is not rosy all the time

Life has ups and downs, and then ups again

When a believer faces hardship, looking on the positive side, it is an opportunity to come closer to God. When reading The Qur'an, we notice that all of God's prophets went through very difficult trials and tests, and that these tests strengthened their faith

It is part of human nature to ask God for help with more sincerity when facing difficulty, and it is also part of human nature to "forget" that a bit when times are good

So if you go through a difficult time, like illness for example, remember that in addition to the threat of the hardship there is an opportunity to strengthen your faith and to come closer to God, which means a higher level of inner peace

And when the hardship is over, do your best to maintain that high level of faith by doing more good deeds

Good time management is important for living a balanced life and finding peace

Islam teaches us the importance of time through several means, including the five daily prayers

Being aware of time makes one get ready to be at the right place at the right time. So for example, if one is able to pray in a nearby mosque, with good time management one finishes work or study ahead of time, does ablution, and walks or drives calmly to the mosque, in tranquility and peace

The opposite happens with bad time management

So be careful with time, if you want peace

Seeking knowledge is something highly praised in Islam
, to the point that angels search for assemblies of knowledge and the remembrance of God are held on earth to join

And there is no limit to how much a believer can learn about Allah, The Qur'an and its interpretation, the Hadith, the life of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and his companions and their followers

Reading the stories of the great heros of Islam and important personalities has an important positive impact on the spiritual heart
, as not only do they set a positive example for us to follow, but also these biographies help us learn from their manners, piety and wisdom what benefits us and helps strengthen our faith

And a stronger faith leads to more inner peace

After a busy time of year, it's important to take some time off to recharge the batteries; all batteries spiritual and physical

Taking time off also gives a chance for reflection and deep thinking, a chance to refresh one's ideas and clear pending matters

Time off also allows for contemplation and being closer to God, the only real source of peace

Slow Down the Pace When Life Gets Too Busy

Sometimes we go through weeks and months when we are running most of the day, either due to a high work load or too many engagements and matters to attend to or both

When life gets too busy and you can't find peace, try to slow down a bit. Driving when you are relaxed and not in a hurry is very different from driving when you are in a hurry. The same applies to all other life activities: walking to the train with serenity is not like running to catch that train.

All these details accumulate and at the end of the day one is either too stressed or at peace

So slow down if you are searching for peace, it will help

Be Moderate: Don't Go to Extremes

Being moderate is an important key to a balanced and happy life

Those who go to extremes in a certain aspect of their lives, be it career or religion, often do that at the expense of something else which is also important, like family or health

Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, advised his followers to give due right to their families and their rest and time of leisure, in the same way they give time to the worship of God

With such a balanced approach, life becomes sustainable on the long run, and a believer is better able to continue the journey of life in peace

Be Optimistic: There is Always Hope

Hope in the mercy of God is one of the main features of a believer, and being optimistic looking forward to a better tomorrow is based on faith and certainty that God can change any difficult condition in no time, and that He can make a hardship turn into ease

God commands us to be optimistic and to maintain hope and faith, and never give up, as He says:

"Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people."
(12:87)

So remain positive and optimistic, and know that after hardship comes ease, and trust in God if you are searching for peace

Don't be Unjust

Committing injustice towards other people is one of the reasons some people can never find inner peace

As Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said "Injustice leads to darkness on the Day of Judgment"

God says it very clearly in the Qur'an (Allah does not love the unjust)

So don't ever get into a situation where you oppress someone, or treat them unfairly. The wise saying advises us to do to others what you would like them to do to you.

If you are searching for inner peace be fair and just

Keep Away from Sins

Human beings are not angels, and on the path towards Allah a believer may commit a minor or major sin. The remedy is to immediately repent, as God forgives when a believer sincerely repents. He is a Forgiving and Merciful God.

What is important is to avoid intentional sins, especially major sins. Each sin leaves a black spot on the spiritual heart, and when sins accumulate without repentance, the heart may end up all black. In that case, the light of faith and the gift of inner peace diminish

If you are searching for inner peace, keep away from intentional sins as best as you can, and if you do something wrong repent without delay, and follow that with a good deed.

Wealth, fame, power, beauty, cars, houses, ... etc. are the glitter of this world

Don't be fooled by them if you are searching for inner peace

Deal with these worldly matters with caution, and be in control of them, don't let them take over your life.

If the love of these matters take control of your heart, you will not have room left for the love of God.

Money comes and goes, power comes and goes, so do all of the rest of them.

What really counts is faith and being close to God which leads to the peace of mind, contentment and inner peace.
