Spiritual Warfare?

Ephesians 6:12

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

How do you define spiritual warfare?

Is it something you engage in?

How do you wage it? And against what, or whom?

I am after a discussion, not a debate :D

Personally, I am haunted by demonic forces but I have learn to ignore these, my faith has given me the strength required to do this - I don't let them influence me

I have chosen to oppose and confound them - I could so easily have made myself into their servant but I chose to serve God instead

I would say that everyone with faith in Jesus is struggling against spiritual authorities. It is good that the authority of Jesus in these areas is greater than any other authority. But they still keep coming back to try their hand again.
My understanding is that spiritual warfare is prayer.
I know people who are into it and I think it is something that people are called to do by God.
We all should pray of course and battle in our own ways but the warfare of prolonged prayer sessions about something seems to be a calling that is not for everyone.
But of course I could be wrong and maybe I should be praying instead of watching The Voice on the TV.
Certainly we should be what we are, a Royal Priesthood and should be offering the sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving.
Paul says we should be praying always. (Eph 1:18, 6:18)
It is good to be in what is called an attitude of prayer always, but of course when we want to pray the attacks from the demons try to prevent us.

Another ex seeker of darkness here! His hold in the world is no joke. I went to him after I started my Christian walk and got heavily involved with demonic posession and oppression. People who say that Christians can't be posessed once saved are clueless! If you want it, God will deliver it into your hands the tormentors of the soul. And the power of his kingdom is just as real. I've been offered it and accepted it numbers of times. Than I'm severely broken and require repentance. It's just on Tutuapp 9Apps Showbox a deeper scale for me. A much more vicious cycle.

The most simple definition is purification of heart.

It is essential to everyone who strives to virtuous life and fights against lust, greed, impatience, sloth etc. How do you fight? With mindful self observation (guarding the heart) and spiritual practices/exercise.

There is some useful experience recorded in monastic writings like The Sayings of the Desert Fathers, Philokalia... but it must be implemented in our time and situation - for example: fasting today is not only from food but also from technology...
