All you have to do is ask.

You are not offended by the flag. You are offended by the lies you want to believe about the flag.

But, I think we are getting away from the topic of the thread.

Good-Ole-Rebel

I said it is an attractive looking flag.

To most Americans it is a symbol of racism.

There is no lie involved. Most people see it
as a symbol of racism. The society it represented
was one that greatly deserved and needed the
destruction their evil ways brought down on them.

To glorify it is sick minded.

But its you Americans' problem, go ahead and
tear yourselves apart. I am gone now and I care
less with every passing day.

Well, most Americans don't know what it stands for either. Do you think people should like being ignorant?

Yes, there is a lie involved. And you have bought into it. If you could care less why did you comment on it in the first place? Your gone now because your afraid you might learn something that would take away that hatred you have for the South and the Southern people.

Why don't you start a new topic on the Confederate flag and what it represents. I would be glad to participate.

That type of feedback is necessary for me to say what I want to say.

Well since your gender and sexuality didn't really play a roll in your spiritual journey as far as I can tell by your replies, you didn't really have anything to say about what I asked.

That said, and given that a substantial majority find the stars n bars.
handsome flag tho it may be, to be offensive and a symbol
of racism, it seems to me a matter of common decency to
refrain from the display.

Just a note but that flag is a version of a "battle flag" that the Army of Northern Virginia used. The Stars and Bars was the national flag that is more reminiscent of the United States flag. In either case it's distasteful, if not outright racist even if people who display it don't always realize that.

Just because I do not question my sexuality doesn't mean it doesn't play a role in my spiritual journey. As a Christian who believes the Bible, I recognize that God made man male and female. Thus I am who God wants me to be, body, soul, and spirit. Thus there is no confusion between my spirit and body. Thus, I am at peace with that.

You indicate in the opening post that your practicing satanism and majic helped lead you to your understanding, what I as a Bible believing Christian call confusion, that your spirit/soul was not matched gender wise with your body. But this is, as I pointed out earlier, the result or cause of your confusion.

What all you believe about satan I don't know. But as a Bible believing Christian I know that he is a real angelic person. He is at war with God and God's creation. Creating chaos and confusion amongst God's creation is what he does. So it should be no surprise that if attention or worship is directed towards him, that chaos and confusion will be the end result.

These are my views as a Christian. You certainly don't have to believe them. But they are what I believe the Bible teaches.

Yes, I am aware of the various flags used by the Confederacy. But the battle flag, as pictured in my avatar, is what people identify as the 'Stars and Bars'. And indeed it does have 'Stars and Bars'. So I don't make issue with it. The national flag would be replaced later by this battle flag located in upper left corner on a field of white. To be replaced later with the battle flag located in upper left corner on a field of white with a broad red bar running up and down on the right side.

It does not represent racism. Don't misunderstand, I have no problem with racism. But the Confederate flag does not represent racism.

"Afraid to learn." As if!
But droll words, coming from a fundamentalist.

The swastika deeply predates the nazi party.
Makes no different to what people see in it now.

Why dont you take your flag and a swastika
on tour, that you may be educated as to
what people see in them.
And in you.

As for a hatred of the south and southerners, and
other things you say about me that you
imagine to be so (made up), well, no surprise,
making things up is a thing with you.

Are you saying the Confedeate flag in it's origin does not represent racism? If so I agree. Why does it represent racism now to you?

My Confederate flag is on tour. And I get to see the ignorance of people in their response to it. Such as you constantly do. If you think you are so right about the Confederate flag and the Southern people, start a new topic. I will participate. Are you afraid?

I don't have to make anything up. I just listen to you speak as you just have in your previous post. And, in post #(41) did I make it up that you said those evil southern people needed to be destroyed? Or did you in fact say it. My, my, such hatred. Based on ignorance...willful ignorance at that.

The entire society for which it stood was profoundly racist.

I am hardly alone seeing it as a racist symbol.

As for making things up, those such as you probably do not
even realize they are doing it.

I see it is mostly uneducated old white men in the south who think
its about "heritage"

Heritage being a society that lived off of black slavery.

So i guess you are right, it is about heritage. Just an ugly
one.

I expect most in the south are very different now than they
were then. For all I know, there'd be less racism there than
in say Chicago.

The society of the "antebellum" south got what it had coming to it

The Confederate flag was designed to represent a divided nation.

It was flown during the Civil War when 11 states — Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Texas — broke from the nation to defend the practice of slavery. The Confederate Army lost that war more than 150 years ago, but the battle flag still represents a deep and bitter divide across America today.

YouGov asked more than 34,000 Americans to say whether the Confederate flag most represents racism or heritage (additionally, panelists were allowed to select “Don’t know” or “neither of these” as responses). The poll was conducted after Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, said that the Confederate flag meant “service, sacrifice and heritage” in her state until a white supremacist “hijacked” its meaning and killed nine Black Americans. Following that shooting, the Confederate flag was permanently removed from South Carolina’s statehouse grounds.

For a plurality of Americans, the Confederate flag represents racism (41%). But for about one-third of Americans (34%) — particularly adults over 65, those living in rural communities, or non-college-educated white Americans — the flag symbolizes heritage.

Are the words in italics yours or another's? If another's, where do they come from.

Again, you are ignorant of the War Between the States. Your hatred of the South is based upon lies you are willing to believe.

Your views are governed by 'modern day polls'. That's a real history lesson there.

The confederate flag or reasonable facsimilie thereof
will be taken as a symbol of of racism by a majority of
Americans regardless of southern history.

Did you ever btw read anything about the history of
Chinese in the south in the years shortly after the
civil war? There was less racism / mistreatment of
Chinese there than in California, by far.

Withal, I feel bad for the average citizen of the south
in those days, because as always, the little guy gets
caught up in and often enough is devastated by the
interests of the oligarchy.

ETA I see I clipped off the source of the quote in italics.
However, if you care go google under any such as say
"confederate flag / racism" you will find any number of links
that say more or less the same thing.

Um, because, like, "history" has less than negative
minus zero to do with what you achieve by displaying
that flag?
You may as well talk swastika history, and see how that
changes perception if you march down the street with one of
those on your sleeve or flagpole. Or take your flag to S Chicago
and give history lessons. :D

But then, its not my deal if you wish to perpetrate the
stereotypes of southerners, with religious fundamentalism
and your racist* flag.

* Your refusal to admit to this is more stereotyping of course.
You are aware that a symbol means what people think it means?
So far no apparent awareness has glimmered outta your part of dixie.

History has everything to do with what I achieve by displaying the Confederate flag.

Why would I want to take the Confederate flag to S. Chicago? It has no place there.

Well, Christianity and the Confederate flag does represent the Southernor. If it is a stereotype, so be it.

So, why do you get to say what the Confederate flag means and I, who am from the South, and fly the flag, don't? What makes your lie concerning the flag more important than the truth of the flag?

Typical foreign atheist stereotype.

What you achieve is to keep alive the impression,
false or otherwise, that the south is the land of bigots.
It is too bad, but at least the breed seems to by dying
out. The new south is much more healthy minded.

Chicago? ha. You would be afraid to take your
flag there because the darkies would see it as
in-t heir-face racism, and get you but good.

Your flag shows up in Hong Kong, and all over the world
when you display it on line. If it has no place in Chicago,
it has no place in this forum. Im a bit surprised the mods
allow it.

Regressive anti intellectual fundamentalism

is the stereotype. Well earned, at that.

What "lie" have I said about the flag? I doubt
too many blacks in the south think it is wholesome
heritage. As for the rest of the country, a majority
see it as a symbol of racism. I note that you
avoid my observation that the swastika is a similar
symbol.

"typical stereotype" has a tinge of irnoically unintended humour,
dont you think os?

Try "awful alien atheist alien commie", if you want to be
more inclusive of all that makes anything I say automatically
wrong.

You have said the Confederate flag is a flag of traitors. You have said it represents racism. Both of which are not true.

But, you are free to prove otherwise.

Yes, most blacks north and south are against the Confederate flag. But, that is due to their being used by Yankee government. They indeed are enemy to it as the Yankee has made them our enemy. The Yankee used them during the war and tried to use them during the reconstruction period. But when that failed, the Yankee left and abandoned the blacks who they made our enemy.

Forty acres and a mule.

In other words, they believe, just like you, the smoke that is blown up their backside. They, just like you, would rather believe the lie than delve into the truth that history reveals. It serves their hatred better, just like you, against the Southern white man. Makes more hay.

But, your observation that it is a beautiful flag is correct.

You are making things up again. I did NOT say it is
the flag of traitors. I specifically argued against that
idea.

If you have the moral capacity to ever admit you have made
a mistake, lets see you demonstrate that now.

As for what it represents? It, like anything else, represents what
people think it represents. A majority say it represents racism.
Have you the capacity to recognize that fact?

Your incoherent paragraph that ends with the statement that
the yanks made blacks the enemy of the southern whites is
as extraordinary a thing as I have read in this forum.

You actually think the blacks needed someone to incite
them against the people who enslaved them? Gracious.

And yet again, you are making things up, ie that I

You are correct. You didn't say it was a traitorous flag. But you do say it represents racism. Which it doesn't.

As far as what the Confederate flag means today, it means the same thing it meant in 1861. Just because others want to attach another meaning is immaterial.

Well, it is extraordinary to you because you don't know the history.

I saw no incoherence in the paragraph you mention. What is the problem?

I am not making it up. Your'e the one that claimed the society the flag represented was evil and needed to be destroyed.

If you have no problem with the flag or the Southern people, what are you arguing with me for? Are you just saying you want to believe the lie and Southern people must accept the lie also? How stupid.
