Ahh but where would Game of Thrones be without Lord of the Rings for a layout? As much as I do like GOT, I mean come on. The first time I encountered it I was like*puts on his nerd glasses and steps upto podium*

"Oh a More politically charged LotR. Interesting."
I bought the first 3 books, (before the others came out). Slogged thought the first, thought the second may be better and got about 1/4 the way through before giving up and sending them to a charity shop.
On the understanding that the book is always better than the film (or tv series) i never bothered watching it?
Oof that's sacrilege in the circles I run inMeh...high fantasy isn't really my thing...at least not anymore. I'd prefer even lower fantasy, but until they turn any of Abercrombie's books into a movie...

I love HP don't get me wrong. But LotR is epicness on a scale unprecedented. Prove me wrong.Come now, ladies and gentlemen!
You know this is merely squabbling over the silver medal.
There is one true winner. Harry Potter, take a bow!

You make a strong case for silver there. I take nothing away from scale or sense of epic; but then, Tom Riddle was after the world too.I love HP don't get me wrong. But LotR is epicness on a scale unprecedented. Prove me wrong.
Ya know, that movie really changed my attitude towards cyclopes...Why choose when you have Krull?
