To know the 'Truth', so to speak, we have been trying and are continuing to understand "What is All This?",
What am I really,
Who am I really?

Basically, it is a desire to find what is enduring and 'real' and 'correct' and live by those findings. In the human species, it has taken two basic directions: Religion & Science. Both are after the Truth. When Reality is ONE, both have come to different perspectives and understanding of 'What is All This.'

Permanence or Immortality is an important element of Christianity and many other religions. The end goal desired here is the Presence of an Immortal Soul in the Presence of Immortal God. Take away 'immortality' from either, and it is not that much of a 'sugar candy' anymore.

Science, is an endeavor to find 'Absolute Laws' in the Universe and Declare these Laws as 'Holy Ground' and stand and live by it.

My point about the Death of the Big Bang, is, if in fact, the Universe is going to Disappear one day, (The Big Crunch of a Contracting Universe...if the force of expansion stops and gravity pulls everything BACK!).....

..then All of the 'Absolute Laws' in Science will also become 'Non-Absolute Laws!'.

What is All This?

I assume you are talking about scientific laws.

Even these laws are not absolute, only under a set of conditions.

Take in example law of conservation of energy, even this can be not true (as found in quantum fluctuation). So I would disagree that these are 'holy grounds', they are explanations which are grounded in reality, unlike the many religious claims which do actually work on absolutes that are true for all and everywhere.

Absolutes

One way of looking at Science is : "It is Predictionology"...that works 2 times, 20,000 times...but not after 20,000 times. Science is absolutely certain and 'supercilious' within a very small window of 'view & experience'. Quantum Physics is now getting into conceptions of reality which cannot be understood by the majority of 6 billions and is throwing up things which are not quite 'solid' but 'ethereal' - somewhat similar to 'religion.'

grounded in reality - means on solid ground for 2-20,000 times - after which....?
ANOTHER SOLID explanation........- after which....?
ANOTHER SOLID explanation........- after which....?

ANOTHER SOLID explanation........- after which....?

-while 'reality' has been the SAME All Along!

Science EXPLAINS ONLY Apparent PATTERNS.
Patterns are basically 'imaginary'...'illusions'.

Can we say that Science is the Study of "Illusions'?
