Do you accept there are far more cities that are not sanctuary cities, that are? That is a hard fact.
I don't know that it is a fact.
Around 10 years ago, during the Bush administration, a rumor went through the local illegal immigrants community that the INS was going to raid a local employer. So many Mexicans believed it that a couple of the biggest employers had to shut down. Without the illegals, they didn't have enough workers to open their plants.
Seriously, in a county with 65000 people, in Indiana, the illegals shut down two of the biggest employers by not showing up for work. My partner did show up for work that day. He was turned back at the gate, told only that the factory was closed. By the afternoon, the radio was flooded with spots from the mayor and chief of police. "This Town welcomes all the hard workers we can get! We don't care where you come from or why you chose our town, the INS won't be a problem for anybody with a job."
This was translated into Mexican for the Mexican radio station.
A day later the factories reopened and life got back to normal. My partner did get nicked for a day of vacation time, as the management didn't want to pay him. Why should they, it wasn't their fault that they hired so many illegal immigrants that they couldn't open the plant without them.
I consider this a sanctuary city. But the city can't say that. This is serious Trump country. "Alternative facts" are the norm around here.
