Stating the Obvious

Why do you think it is offensive to refer to Anton Szandor LaVey as 'LaVey'? Even if I respected him, I don't see why it's necessary. There's nothing disprespectful about refering to a person using just their last name. It's common practice. I mean, I have respect for Churchill, but I don't go around refering to him as Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill KG OM CH PC FRS all the time. :)) And I thought knowing his full name would never come in handy!)

And you shouldn't take a simple spelling mistake to such offense. If you're going to get all upset over that, then maybe you should learn how to properly punctuate a sentence, or maybe at least take advantage of spellcheck. I'm sure, Kreeden, Supreme Being of the Universe and All Around Nice Guy, didn't mean any offense. (Sorry, I had to use it!)

Heh heh. That reminds me of the Simpsons when Homer calls "Jebus! Save me Jebus!" Some Christians actually get really angry at that...
*sad face* But, but... That's one of my favorite lines of all time!

Era , loosen up . :) Ok , a typo then , which it really was . But it is one that I often make .

I read the Satanic Bible back in the early 80s , so I basically know what it says , and there is truth in it , if one wishs to make it their truth . If Jesus ever lived or not , I can't prove , but most believe that he may have . For that matter , I can't prove that LaVey ever lived ? I was just trying to say that I don't mean any disrespect by calling the man by his last name , nor by his first for that matter . Nor do I think any others do . Gee , you Satanist have to learn to kick back and relax . ;) Really . Think about it . If you are that easly to manipulate .... { but that was a typo }

Thank you Unedited . The use of my full name is noted , and the Universe smiles upon you . ;)

Kreeden the name is LaVey and as far as I`m conceirning I`m calling you Kreeden and so does everyone else on RF. And comparing Jesus Christ with Anton Szandor LaVey for us is an offense !
WOW! Someone needs to lighten up. No offense intended really, but come on now, relax. If you would have read Kreeden,Supreme Being of the Universe and All Around Nice Guy's (I, too had to use it) post thoroughly, unbiasedly and with a relaxed mind, you would have noticed that the first time he spelled LaVey in his post, he spelled it correctly, only the second time did he misspell it, thus proving that it was merely nothing more than a slip of the finger on the wrong button and not something to get extremely worked up about. I think you were just looking for something to attack him with.

Why thank you C1 , the universe smiles upon you also . :)

However this has gone too far .

Era , you take this very seriously , and I apologize for being so flip about it . It is my nature to take things lightly , and to be blunt at the same time . I guess that I figure it helps take the edge off what I am saying sometimes , but it didn't work this time .

However , unless I have reason to do otherwise . I will continue to refer to Lavey by one name . Not out of disrespect , but because I'm too damn lazy to write more .

Respect is learnt . And I do respect you Era . And trust me , it was a typo . :) If I wanted to attack some one , it wouldn't be in such a childish way as name calling or such .

Unedited , if you don`t have any sense of logic , don`t blame others . People why is so hard to understand what I said there . Unedited just show me where did I said that calling A.S.LaVey just "LaVey " is wrong ? Where is my lack of punctuation ?
Kreeden if you read the Satanic Bible , then why you made such a stupid mistake to say that between laveyan satanism and christianity are some connections? If you don`t remember this ,then look at Wicca forums . I`ve asked you a question and you never answered. I was calm and I am calm , but you don`t like it when someone says the truth . You think you manipulated me , yeah this is a good joke !

And where have I said that ? I have tried to explain , several times , that I was just using the two names as excamples .

Era you said "We modern satanists ( laveyanism is a part of modern satanism) , don`t believe in God , Jesus Christ , for us they do not exist . We do not believe in theistic gods or their prophets etc . When I said that is an offense I meant that even if you like it or not , Anton Szandor LaVey existed , Jesus Christ didn`t , there are no real evidence ."

What about Muhammed? He is a part of History. There is proof that he existed, and he did much for the same God Jesus and Moses spoke of. Muhammed spoke of Jesus for people like you who didnt believe in him, he provided proof for the existence of Jesus. Now I'm not saying it took Muhammed to prove the life of Jesus, but you ask for someone who was in our time... and he was.

Peace and Blessings

:bonk: Hmmm. I was just reading the overview of Satanism.

This is what I read.

Philosophical Satanists, also known as Modern Satanists, who do not worship any Satan or demon or devil, but instead who find inspiration in the study of various "dark" gods and spirits and myths, or the archetype of Satan.

Ok, I really don't get it. If they don't worship Satan or any demon or devil, why are they called Satanists?

Please forgive my ignorance as I have only had a moment to read on this. I never thought I would even click on this subject, but I am trying to learn about things I don't understand.

Publicity was certainly a beneficial offshoot even if it was not the main cause. Furthermore, anti-religious feelings was a driving factor and since Christianity is the major religion in the West, choosing their anti-figure was probably the best way to demonstrate the vast gulf between Satanism and other religions.

I would encourage you to learn much about Satanism since it is one of the most misunderstood religions. Looking at information about it on this site and at www.religioustolerance.org is probably the best place to go since going straight to the church of satan website is a bit like getting slapped in the face or taking a cold shower because it is so different. It must be approached with a completely open mind.

For more information on theistic Satanism, the only organised body I am aware of that follows such a creed is the Temple of Set if you are more interested in that area though I know very little about them myself.
