  • 6.3% is the divorce rate of arranged marriages globally.
Now let's see divorce rate that is not arranged marriage:

Not all weddings go the way of happy endings. Some end ugly, while others result in amicable separation—still, it’s also one of the factors why a lot of people don’t want to get married at all.

  • In the US, 42-45% of first marriages end in divorce.
  • There were 780,000 divorces conducted in the US in 2018.
  • Maldives is the country with the highest divorce rate with 10.97 divorces per 1,000 inhabitants per year. Followed by Belarus and the US with 4.63 and 4.34 respectively.
  • In 2002, 54.9% of new marriages ended in divorce in Sweden.
  • The divorce rate in Europe increased from 0.8 per 1,000 persons in 1965 to 1.9 in 2016.
  • In 2017, the distribution of the number of divorces in France showed that 33,456 of pronounced divorces were by mutual consent.
  • According to data, 82% of respondents in a survey conducted in Italy believed that sometimes divorce is necessary while 18% said that divorce is evil.
  • The Philippines and Vatican City are the only two remaining nations where divorce is not allowed.
  • In 2016, Portugal and Luxembourg were ranked 1st and 2nd in Europe with the highest divorce rates registered at 69 and 66 for every 100 marriages, respectively.
  • Crude divorce rates were highest in Kazakhstan in Asia Pacific with an estimated 3 divorces per 1,000 people in 2016.
  • The divorce rate in China has climbed to 3.2 divorces per 1,000 inhabitants in 2018.
This is from: 56 Marriage Statistics: 2020/2021 Global Data, Analysis & Trends | CompareCamp.com

To be noted:

  • In the developing world, 1 out of 9 girls are married before they reach the age of 15.
  • Every year, 14 million girls get married before they turn 18.

When it comes to happiness those who don't get divorced and stay in a love marriage are equally as happy as those who got arranged marriage: Are arranged marriages happier? - Barking Up The Wrong Tree (bakadesuyo.com)

Now if those are non-divorced, and 6% divorce rate for arranged and about 40-60% give and take, for love marriages, we can conclude arranged marriages are more successful. And the happiness of the two while married and not divorced is the same.

So toxic people are preferred for some reason in the dating scene only to result in divorce or break up before lessons learned.

I should do the research. Most domestic violence is from alcohol from what I researched in the past. I will get back to you on it.

I only found studies in Pakistan and India where abuse is significant. That's not a fair assessment since culture of abuse can be there. I didn't find a world study stats on it.

It seems making alcohol more expensive is linked to reducing domestic violence: ALCOHOL REGULATION AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TOWARDS CHILDREN - MARKOWITZ - 1998 - Contemporary Economic Policy - Wiley Online Library

Most arranged marriages are not forced. I was doing research, the domestic violence is all in the forced arranged marriages. Not the normal ones.

You can choose still, think of your parents and their parents as a matchmaking app that actually cares about you and your future.

The reason why women don't date nice guys, is they are afraid they are being nice just for sex. But if marriage is the start point, then this doesn't factor in.

So marriage protects against toxic relationships and gives nice guys a chance to finish first. :)

For citation, read the study I linked to in that regard.

Does still married = happy marriage?

In some religions divorce can lead to being ostracised, cast out, losing family and friends - that stops people getting divorced .... whereas...
In the real world, divorce is a release from unhappiness.
In my close circle of friends about a third are divorced/remarried they are happier now that before the divorce.

Staying married does not mean happy, especially if a divorce is almost impossible to get, many of those countries don't afford women equal rights with men. As I said the divorce rate would necessarily be higher in countries where both parties are free to end it, that doesn't make arranged marriages happier, or even more successful on its own, there are a multitude of other factors to take into account, which you seem keen to ignore.

One of the links you gave had a test group of just Forty-five individuals??? That's risible sorry.

There is also this study of why nice guys finish last in the dating scene: Nice Guys Finish Last (apa.org)

That link only mentioned economic hardship, there's nothing in there about dating?

The reason why women don't date nice guys, is they are afraid they are being nice just for sex.

Wow, you know what women think now? And only nice guys want sex? This is just hilarious sorry...

That's nonsense, nothing you linked evidenced that at all.

From your own link:

  • "It is more common for women who are unhappy with their marriage to poison themselves rather than seek a divorce."
  • "Feeling so trapped and worthless must be horrible beyond comprehension, yet thousands of spouses feel this way because of their culture. Rather than seek out help or to proceed through a divorce, there is less shame in committing suicide than there is in seeking safety and shelter somewhere else. "
  • "This is the hidden issue within an arranged marriage, but to be fair, it happens in all types of marriages as well. There are still many who condemn divorce in almost all circumstances. They may not be the majority any more, but they are still loud enough to be influential."
  • "Girls who give birth to their first child before the age of 15 are 5 times more likely to die during the delivery of the child than women who are in their 20s."
  • "There is an increased risk of HIV and AIDS transmission when young arranged marriages are enforced."
  • "Girls who are in an arranged or forced marriage before the age of 18 are more likely to describe their first sexual experience as a forced experience."
"n many cultures, having girls marry young means a bride payment is coming to the family and that is money that is needed. In Iran, for example, 99% of the arranged marriages that occur involved a bride payment. The family might benefit in such a culture, but the girls do not often benefit much at all. They often drop out of school, especially if the marriage occurs before the age of 18, and are more likely to remain in poverty over the course of their lives. They have greater health risks and even if there is love present, there is still a higher chance of violence occurring. With 2 out of 3 girls getting married as a teen in industrialized or westernized nations, it isn’t necessarily a foreign culture that has an arranged marriage any more. It could be our very own culture."

That's from your own link? Lovely, is that your idea of a happy marriage?

Sheesh. I guess google also gotten so caught up in the (gentlemanly) cultural extensions that sprang up around the maxim that the unspoken yet implied original meaning has been obscured. Let me clarify so you can get the gist of the unspoken meaning: It is

"Ladies first, nice guys finish (orgasm) last."

All sorts of metaphorical "gentlemanly" customs sprang up around this--such as holding the door for a woman and allowing the woman to enter through the door first.

My apologies, I didn't know that this connection was no longer common knowledge.
