Steven Hawking warns not to talk to aliens

I have to say I'm disappointed that a smart person like him would think of extraterrestrial beings in such a way...

Unless they are human-looking creatures that have aircrafts of types, I wouldn't be too worried. They, just as we, are another species of animals, evolved differently.


Unless... -thinking smiley face- he is an alien that escaped from his home planet and came to protect us and teach us, and wants to warn us that his kind are evil...

Eh.

The problem with talking to aliens is the unpredictability it brings to the table. If they are anything like us biologically (breathe oxygen, need water, arrogant as hell), don't you find it even remotely possible that they may wipe out humanity and colonize earth. I'd rather not risk it.
I don't want to be a re-enactment of Manifest Destiny.

we dont have a clue if we could ever understand them or even hear them.


We cannot communicate with chimps very well even though we share so much of our DNA with them.

Imagine a alien far more advanced then us, [more then a chimp to human ratio] odds are we would never be able to communicate.



If they wanted to mine the planet, they would not need to talk to primitive beings to do so.



Our best hope would be that they have decided to let us join a sort of known galactic civilization [if it exist at all]




Lets say they built a ship that was self contained as their planet died. They could be traveling millions of years through several or many evolutionary changes and still not run into anything or anyone. The next thing to think of and I think its where we are at now is that we are being watched like fish in a bowl. Due to bacteria here that may kill them is one reason they are not here on the ground and second. What are the odds our atmosphere is conducive for their stability. Its probably poison. They can no more come here and stay then we can stay in a wetsuit and stay in the ocean and habitate that. LET ALONE worry about commincation with the fishes and invertebrates.

That depends on how efficient is the technology for resource extraction that the specie has.

I don't think leaving the planet is the only option.

If we as a species get out act together, we can survive on earth a long time. But
out history does not lend itself to this outcome, as greed seems to trump all other
motivations for most societies.

Well, this is going to sound a little strange. But I always figured that Stephen Hawkins was a victim of a foreign Remote Influencing attack (a form of influential telekinesis), most likely the same man who attacked Bobby Fischer. There is a type of Remote Influencing known as "Stage XI" where a person projects telekinesis back into the past to influence the DIET, actions or beliefs of a person in the past.

The trend of victims are those with an IQ over 180 (hence Hawkins and Fischer). The attacker tries to destroy the minds of Americans, Brits & Russians with an IQ over 180, by trying to Remote Influence their diet in the past. His goal--any sort of disease that will destroy the mind of a person with an IQ over 180, such as any neuron disease (ALS, MS, Parkinsons, Alzheimers, CJD, etc).

Each country then enacts a set of Counter Measures to the victims, which means each victim radically changes their diet. Extra vitamins supplements, eliminating gluten, eliminating all farmed dairy, eliminating beef, etc.

Part of the CounterMeasures is that the victims are to ignore anyone else trying to influence them--someone pretending to be aliens influencing them, someone pretending to be angels influencing.

Hawkins fits all criteria of a typical victim. So perhaps that's where someone with a high IQ is getting an extremely odd idea about "contact or communication with aliens."

AFAIK, ALS is genetic. It's not caused by anything in the diet.

That's my hypothesis.
