I find it interesting studying the characteristics of Stone Henge in my Art History class.
A large perfectly circular trench, then several rings of enormous stone pillars.
An interesting part about it is that the stones on the outer rings are rougher while the rings in the center are much more polished and smooth, I think showing more importance to the inner circle. I think passing through the different rings represented passing through different phases (Some kind of progression) No doubt a work of this magnitude was for some kind of religious purpose. When I see all these layers, it reminds me of the layers in the Israelite's tabernacle in the wilderness that held the Ark of the Covenant. I think there are some deffinate simalarites here.
