Stop pornography NOW!

Nothing personal (you are hardly unique) , but your personality is rather more addictive and self-destructive than most people's.

You are better off sticking to a zero tolerance policy concerning lots of things. Porn is just one of them. That doesn't apply to everyone.

Hey there, Tom. Are you a real psychologist? Or do you just play around as one over the internet? ...;)

And what if someone is simply not interesting in having a relationship with another person at their current stage in life. Like say someone recently separated and they need some "me time", but they also want a way to release sexual tension so they don't go back to their abusive ex.
Where in that statement is pornography applicable? Are you saying that masturbation needs porn?

I am with you there.
I generally only bother with Porn of the "enthusiastic amateur exhibitionists" variety. But I can come up with better fantasies as a rule.

Yes, and guilt-free ones. LOL Sometimes I wonder what some people's brains are not capable of. A lot! I suppose.

Porn can create creepy people who withdraw from real relationships to live in a fantasy world that can be rather disturbing. As you flood the mind and imagination with that addictive self-medication entertainment you will start needing more hardcore stuff and fantasies become more deviant.
Fabulous post.

I think porn is harmful in many ways.

It objectifies women, which is why I as a feminist oppose porn. It creates a norm for sex that includes such things as choking, force, anal, deep throating, and the shaving of pubic hair so that one looks like a child rather than an adult. I've spoken with quite a few women online who are now voluntarily celibate rather than to have to navigate dating when men have these expectations.

It replaces genuine social interaction and pursuit of actual relationships with a quick fix--a source of major, major loneliness for men. And if porn is used frequently, there is a very real chance that a man may develop problems when engaging in real life sex with women, such as erectile dysfunction, delayed or inhibited orgasm, decreases sexual satisfaction, performance anxiety, and emotional disconnection.

However, until such time as the SCOTUS reverses its decision that porn is protected free speech, we are stuck with it, and with its consequences.

Then they masturbate. They don't need porn for that.

Or (and I know many people think this is impossible but it's not) they are celibate from all forms of sex, including masturbation.

What about the argument that pornography keeps sexual deviants occupied at their computer rather than lurking around places where they might find living flesh to rape?
This is based on the idea of venting, that if you vent your anger or your lust or whatever, it will reduce your need. In fact, venting does NOT work.

Porn can create creepy people who withdraw from real relationships to live in a fantasy world that can be rather disturbing. As you flood the mind and imagination with that addictive self-medication entertainment you will start needing more hardcore stuff and fantasies become more deviant.

As you numb yourself with self-medication you ruin opportunities to build real relationships. It can lead to missing out on experiencing real relationships and great emptiness in life. The guilt and shame associated with sexual addiction can be detrimental to your sense of self-worth. If you have no self-worth, porn can make you despise and hate your self more and fall to new lows.

The pornography addict eventually misses out on real relationships and misses out on everything. For instance, not many are going to be able to find someone who is a supermodel or resembles who they are looking at in bed, so they are fantasizing about some one other than their spouse or partner and it becomes a relationship with ghosts. Eventually they start cruising for victims to use as objects for self-gratification. No need to further explain how this can be spooky. :p

I heard a Franciscan give a homily on concentration camp guards who used human skin to make household products. He said all of them were perverts.

Eventually everything becomes an exciting sexual fantasy that requires more than what a partner can satisfy and a person essentially needs people to be used as blow up dolls to satisfy the fantasy that they have excessively conjured up for reward.

Jesus shared in all of our weaknesses. He knows the pain of being a creepy porn addict. He took your sin and guilt to the cross becoming a curse for you so that you would not suffer for the debt you never paid.

Eventually you become more like Ted Bundy who needed living S&M dolls and corpses because the fantasies become so bad and creepy that no living person has fallen so low as to volunteer for , no matter how much they are paid.

Without the grace of God, there goes you!
I'm doing my part as a man who isn't entirely in opposition to this type of expressive language. I don't watch it, I mean. It's about the best that I can do. Riley got married. Her husband seems nice enough and she's a sweety.

Wait... he's delusional for presenting actual research from scientific websites?

I think your definition of delusional needs some revision.

I'm not for banning porn, just keeping it away from under 18s (or thereabouts) - as it used to be. Given that what is available now via the internet is just light-years away from what we had before, and comes with a whole set of new problems.

I'd love to see it go. It's doing nothing but increasing men's loneliness, ruining sex for people, and preventing real relationships in many cases.
