Student Commits Suicide After Footage is Broadcast Online

Student kills himself after gay sex footage put online said:
A New Jersey college student has leapt to his death a day after authorities said two students secretly filmed him having sex with a man and broadcast it over the internet.

Tyler Clementi's wallet was found on the George Washington Bridge on 22 September after two witnesses saw someone jump from the structure, authorities told the AP news agency.

Mr Clementi's body has been found.

Two students have been charged with illegally filming the 18-year-old.

"Tyler was a fine young man, and a distinguished musician. The family is heartbroken beyond words," Paul Mainardi, a lawyer for Mr Clementi's family, said in a statement confirming the suicide.

The teenage violinist's body was identified on Thursday after his body was found in the Hudson River a day earlier.

I don't know what to say. I would offer my condolences to his family and wonder how anyone could be so... cruel, so... heartless, to broadcast footage of an intimate act on the Internet without permission and have a laugh about it.

Would he have been filmed if he had brought a girlfriend over instead?

Shame on those students.

It's terrible that they invaded his privacy for entertainment and contributed to his death :(

It's a horrible thing to do but there must have been something else going on for this guy to kill himself.

I'm not so sure. I mean just imagine how humiliating this would have been for him. Look at how many gays and lesbians are still in the closet because they're scared of the repercusions of people finding out about them. Finding out about them is one thing, but to have a video like that broadcast for the world to see. I can't even fathom how distraught this young man must have been when he found out what they'd done.

I just mean that perhaps he already faced social problems or has other emotional issues. Death is a very extreme measure. I would have sued these guys. Not kill myself. You don't just kill yourself if you are an otherwise happy and trouble free person.

Violet.
You think maybe that if people can't be supportive of one another
maybe they could just leave each other alone?

The point of embarassing, mocking, humiliating,
hurting another human being is? is what.
This is funny to people?
Raping others of their privacy?!

People are so cruel and heartless,
I'm more inclined to call them animals.

If they are more than animals
they will suffer over what they have done
their whole lives.
And I hope they do.

I also hope the law prosecutes them severely.

I have been watching this story.
The thing that gets people the most is that one of the students was his roommate.
There have been calls for the charges to be upgraded. Some are calling for involuntary manslaughter, while others are calling for hate crime charges.
