Student loans

Hi all.

Just a quick question. Should people who want to study at a university, and who have studied before but didnt finish all courses (maybe missed one or two) be allowed to get student loans? Not talking about cases where sickness and things like that came in the way of finishing some courses.

My government disagrees. And I am not sure I can finish them now because its been too long. So... everything I planned for may now be down the drain. Yay.

Sorry, in an odd mood. I really wanted it to work. But nope. I missed two courses. More specifically, I missed part of two courses. But thats enough for a no. Unless of course my ADHD is reason enough for them to reconsider, but I doubt it.

As student loans should be paid back then I think the answer should perhaps be yes. But if you could have unlimited courses for free like this then the loans would never be paid back so this would be a problem.

Its both in my country. A small amount isnt a loan, but most of the money is.

I personally think it is fair enough that the tax payer only funds one course. In my case my government paid my tuition fees and because I came from a lower income family I also got some money as a bursary and not a loan. If I ever went back to university to do another undergraduate course I don't think I would expect my government to pay my through it again.

I believe that they should be allowed to get student loans. But then again, I also think that college should be completely free and funded by the government. Unfortunately I do not think this would be possible in our government's current state of debt unless they were to significantly raise taxes.

However, in the case as posted in the OP, I would think it fair that the loans taken for the first try be paid off first....then you start the second time with a clean financial slate. Otherwise, society runs the risk of scammers dropping out and into college over and over again, being the perpetual (taxpayer supported) student unto death.

None taken. But my brain is only young once and my existing loans will take decades to pay back because I am far from rich .

Seems like there is a way out, though. Apparently while I probably cant get loans for the entire time I study, I can get loans from the point I have studied enough to make up for the courses I missed, lol. So it may still work.

Kerr, I wish you luck. I certainly know the feeling, having FINALLY paid off many, many tens of thousands of dollars in student loans over more than a decade of red ink. :cover:
