Must be cheeky American grey squirrels. Red ones keep their distance from people, usually
We have both red and grey squirrels here.
We also have black ones.
They look like squirrel shadows.

We had greys in the UK, some idiot imported them and they escaped taking over from the native reds. There is only a few places in the UK where reds are still living.
France is mostly reds. Not seen a grey here yet.
I don't think ive ever seen a black one.

When I first moved here years ago I had never seen one.
Didn't even know they existed.

Was pretty weird for me.

I asked my wife if she had seen and squirrel shadows running around.
She said she had never seen one before either.
