Some people think Christianity is something best reserved for Sunday. Some want to do it all week. Do you think doing it all week is just something the more serious Christians will naturally shoot for? Do you think the Sunday Christians are fine?

Let me know what you think. I want to hear from you!
Please define "do it".

I can't imagine that there ever was a real person who believes their religion if only for one day out of every seven. If you mean doing it means sharing in the church experience then I don't think it matters that a person goes to church anytime. All of the time or none of the time. It doesn't matter, imo.

Some people serve their church more and some people serve it less. I don't think it matters. I think what matters most is how a person lives right all the time.

I think that is what I said. :)
You said Christianity starts on Monday. It starts on Sunday, which is when you have to decide whether you're going to play the hypocrite or be the saint. Hypocrisy on Sunday is perhaps worse than sinning on Monday, because it makes you think you are saved when you aren't.

This is of real relevance today when we are all surrounded by liberal if not libertine churches full of people who are playing the hypocrite on Sunday.

You are saying the same thing but in different words.

If on Sunday you say you are a Christian and on Monday you are acting differently then people will view you as a hypocrite.

Are we arguing about symantics? Or principles?

Incidentally, there are baby Christians, carnal Christians, young Christians, and mature Christians. Baby Christians may act wrong on Mondays but may not be a hypocrite.

You said "Christianity starts after you leave church." I can see your point but semantically it is badly expressed, because as I have said, it is essential that you be a Christian in church as well as after you leave church. Playing false with church is lying to God cf. Ananias and Sapphira.

I can see your point about what "people will say of you" but Christianity is not in fact ultimately about what others say of you but only about what God thinks of you.

That is what I was saying. Can we skin the cat in more than one way? After all, my vote was a "no"

No argument here.

Thank you for all of your concern over who should be defined as Christian. Actually that's part of the post. Since both Sunday Christians and weekly Christians identify themselves as Christians, the question really is put to you to decide if being a Sunday Christian is OK?

I will not define Christian. That's what I want the thread posters to do.

I do not know what a Sunday Christian is. Is being one OK? Does being a Sunday Christian mean that I would feel free to commit a crime when it isn't Sunday?

What goes unnoticed are the 'sins of omission.' For Catholics the Eucharist is the center of Christian life. The Eucharist proclaims social justice.
"This is my body" is the same who said; "You saw me a hungry man and you did not give me to eat" Or as
St. John Chrysostom put it, 'Do you wish to honor the body of Christ? Do not despise him when he is naked. Do not honor him here in the church building with silks, only to neglect him outside, when he is suffering from cold and nakedness.'
If one considers the suffering the world over, all too many Christians are Sunday Christians.

I think it works for the American Christian Society that we have today. But I don't think God certainty agrees.

I like to look at it optimistically and say they're working on it. Or they're works in progress.

I don't know if it is ok to be a Sunday christian.
But i also dont know if it is not ok to be a Sunday christian.
Is a Sunday christian a Christian?
Or is a Sunday christian only a Christian on Sunday?
That is something only the sunday christian knows.
