In an act of heroism Khalil Khalil, a Sunni Muslim, was killed when the car bomber he was chasing gave up on his original destination and blew himself up. Khalil, volunteering to be a night watchman at the entrance of the Shi'a Muslim town, spotted the rigged car bomber driving towards Ba'labek, a Shi'a Muslim dominated town. He, and a fellow watchman, Abdel-Rahim al-Qadi, gave chase, till the bomber realised he was trapped and blew himself up, claiming both their lives and the life of a woman passing by. The two were hailed as heroes across Lebanon.
This is not the first such incident in Lebanon. A few weeks ago, a Christian soldier spotted a rigged car heading towards a Shi'a Muslim village. He chased the car, and when the bomber realised he had no way out, he aborted the mission and blew up the car, claiming the life of the soldier. Both men's acts prevented a larger number of civilians deaths.
...The refugees fleeing Syria have embedded mainly within Lebanon's Sunni Muslim communities. Extremist groups are using the Syrian refugee community as cover to get into Lebanon . From there they plan their attacks that target Lebanon's Shi'a Muslim community. Yet, the unity of Lebanese people promises a bright future inshaAllah.
Alhamdolellah. It is touching to see the brave people from all sects and religions protecting each other from takfiris. ma salam
