I have lived a long life
A painless death presents no fear.
I would probably spend that day in final contemplation of what has been and what is to come. It would be more one of curiosity then gladness or sadness.
Much like the mixed emotions one feels when changing an established career path.

( I made a total change when I was 55 which was both scary and inspiring, most people just thought it plain risky)

As I do not expect anyone to end up worse off than they are now, I would have no regrets on their behalf. Our lives are always lived on borrowed time, but we do not let that effect how we live them.
