Who was that? And how was he or she deposed?

It was Gough Whitlam, 1975.
The 'official' story was that the Governor General, Sir John Kerr, sacked the government over economic mismanagement.
The actual issue was Pine Gap, a vital part of US military infrastructure in the central north of Australia. I suggest you google it so I can keep this brief.
An ex-CIA operative, Chris Boyce (the Falcon Man) spent 15 years in solitary confinement for blowing the whistle on this. Google him too. An incredible story. Well, totally credible actually. The official story is that he sold secrets to the Russians.
Since the neo-con affair at the turn of the century, Australia now has the most oppressive draconian gagging laws on earth, and nothing relevant can be safely said.

I'm curious about how many Americastanians think Trump is so bad they'd consider emigrating.
Have fun conversing, & please vote if & only if you're a resident in this country.
TBH I am moving to Ireland for 2 years anyway. I will keep tabs on him and see how it runs. I might not come back if the country turns into a steaming hell hole.

edit:

Actually if Bernie sanders looses the nomination do you know who I want to win? I want Trump to win and he shed his hideous visage of idiotic bigotry and insanity. Only to reveal he is actually a moderate liberal that wants to remove Obamacare and implement single payer healthcare, raise the minimum wage and re-regulate banks.

Trump by his historical positions on things didn't say or do any of the crazy **** that he's done recently. He is obviously playing a character. But is that Character the kind of person he will be in office or will he be a totally different "real-er" person?

After reading this post title again... "Suppose Trump Becomes Grand Poobah.....Who Will Move To Canuckistan?"

This came to my demented little noggin

Obama said some pretty crazy crap to gain votes. Remember his promise to "close Gitmo and bring troops home in his first year"?

Of course, once the reality of the job hit him, he and his supporters realized that "evil George Bush" was actually working in the best interests of the US with all the intelligence available. It was no surprise when Obama reneged on his promises and followed Bush's "evil" path.

But, hey. Have fun betraying your country.

My biggest critique of Obama is that he was a war-mongering child murderer and Wedding Bomber. All while increasing the size of these inhumane and ineffective atrocities like Gitmo. I'm not quite as much of a sheep as political party members tend to be. They don't care as much for the issues because they see the world through rose colored glasses when it comes to their party. The only real reason one should ever be a democrat or a republican is if your state has primaries that you can only vote in if you are registered for that party.

When conservatives threatened to leave if Obama was elected, liberals called them "racist."

Oh, the hypocrisy! Oh, the amnesia!
TBH It was bore out of racism. Obama hasn't shown the danger signs that Trump has. I mean none of the other candidates have been as terrifying. If you objectively thing there is no difference between the reactions to Obama and Trump then reevaluate.

Too much like France for my liking..

On casting my vote- He likely won't be that bad, so I'm definitely staying. I am surprised to see an exact 50/50 split between the positive and negative responses in the poll- I'd have thought this
forum would be far more negative towards the Donald - always difficult to predict, is Trump..

It looks overwhelmingly negative to me (including the "won't be that bad" option).
This is to be expected in an overwhelmingly liberal (N Am modern type) side.
What's interesting is that so few need to move, given the great majority of doom
& gloom predictions.

True- and they are quite free to leave. Countless millions have had the genuine and desperate need to flee their beloved home countries under certain regimes, doing so - not always so easy.

I think we have a fairly stark proof in pudding for capitalist v socialist countries- one has to build walls to keep people out, the other to keep them in

Which one of the Scandinavian countries has walls to keep them in?

They're all capitalistic.
He's thinking more of places like N Korea, & the old E Germany & USSR.....real socialist countries.

Note:
Ordinarily, it would be rude to answer a question posed to another poster.
But since it's my thread, I may misbehave with impunity.
Those are the rules per RF.

How strange. Do we have a candidate that follows USSR, NAZI Germany or N Korean style antics? Or is he simply confused?

I don't see where he said any of the candidates are socialist.
Bernie has claimed the label, but I don't think he fits the dictionary definition.
(Although, I'm sure he'd try to steer the country in that direction a little.)
