The New Yorker has an interesting piece by Adam Gopnik yesterday (October 17). It's behind a paywall, so I won't link, just give the first 2 paragraphs.

Adam Gopnik has been closely analyzing Donald Trump’s political power for nearly a decade. In 2016, he warned of the danger of assuming Trump could be controlled; in 2022, he explored an emerging type of authoritarian who has learned to turn citizens into fans; last year, he reflected on how best to heal our ailing democracy, in the wake of Trump’s fascism. Now, in a powerful piece in this week’s issue, Gopnik asks readers to consider the stakes of this election. “Trumpism is a cancerous phenomenon,” he writes. “Treated with surgery once, it now threatens to come back in a more aggressive form, subject neither to the radiation of ‘guardrails’ nor to the chemo of ‘constraints.’ It may well rage out of control and kill its host.”

If elected, Gopnik argues, Trump will pardon and celebrate the January 6th insurrectionists, allowing the existence of a paramilitary organization capable of committing consequence-free violence on his behalf. He will attempt to persecute his political rivals. He will abandon Ukraine, NATO, and the democratic alliance of Europe. And these are just a few of the fearsome outcomes we can predict, based on his malignant acts as President and his blustering, vengeful claims for the future. “An oncologist who, in the face of this much evidence, shrugged and proposed watchful waiting as the best therapy would not be an optimist,” Gopnik writes. “He would be guilty of gross malpractice.”

During Trump's years there has been peace and stability throughout the world and the warmongers of the Deep State must have had suicidal thoughts because their lust for war could not be satiated.
Poor little poopsies...

By the way... history will say that Trump's wisdom and cleverness made him one of the best PotUS ever.

Is there a "Survey: Harris's Faults" thread, or one in the works right now?
Left leaning site posts anti Trump thread

Just teasing ;) (I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for that “Survey: Harris’s Faults” thread).

Edit: I know you’re older so I’ll explain the “meme”. Shocked Pikachu is a reaction image used when one is shocked by something that should’ve been obvious or seen coming.

Oh just a general observation. I could totally be wrong, but I’d wager there are more democrats than republicans here.
I've been on many online forums with political sections & debates, and on the ones that don't cater to a specific political ideology, or political personality (e.g. Ron Paul Forums) the democrats tend to be noisier and seem to be able to overtake them until everyone else leaves and they become democrat echo chambers.

Do you think this is also happening here on this forum?

My post is a poor characterization because of the site tbh because for example @Revoltingest is a self Proclaimed Right Libertarian. Trump seems to unify people against Trump though, hence what I said when I said “left leaning”.

I still think this site has in general more vocal democrats than vocal republicans.

To answer you question… them LiBeRaLs will never be able to shout me off of this site! So worry not, @anotherneil , I shall remain a bastion of light against the democrat tide that storms online forums!

… I’m being cheeky, hope ya don’t mind ;)

I am not worried about democrats being able to “overtake” this forum as I don’t see that happening. If the site leans left perhaps it’s simply because there are more democrats here.

For you it would include:

She's not extreme enough
She's not mentally declining
She's too ethical
She doesn't want to target groups of citizens
She's too joyous
She doesn't stand on stage and sways to music

I think both the democrats and republicans are to the left of center of the real political spectrum, one in which monotonically increases (or decreases) from no government to total government control over everything.

Can we see a scale so we can evaluate this?

Sure, no problemo; I can't find a perfect one, but here's what I could find that comes fairly close.

There's one presented in this article: https://www.reddit.com/r/libertarianmeme/comments/1d3ih9l
This one compares the socialism propaganda political spectrum (top) to a monotonic and more scientific political spectrum (bottom):

My face when Republicans and Libertarians try to separate themselves from “big government” and Fascism: :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
