Taoist Quotes

SEX.

Love is not sexual passion. Those who mistake sex for love remain empty of love. Sex is only a passing manifestation of love. It is part of nature’s mechanism, a method of procreation. Love exists on a higher plane, and as love grows, sex dissipates. The energy that has been manifested in sex is transformed into love.

ZEN:

Meditation begins in the turmoil of the mind, reaches to a certain maturity in the hear world of feeling, and reaches to its ultimate flowering in the world of being. And these are the three things to remember first, the prose of the mind, second, the poetry of the heart, and third, just the silent music, the soundless sound, what Zen people call the sound of one hand clapping.

Friend Joea,
Thank you for reminding me of what osho had said on various topics however would be more interested when you yourself say something from your own inner understanding and experiences as one has to live the words to bring them alive or else like osho they are all dead.
No, do not get it wrong the idea is to shake the inner consciousness out of that stupor they are in to bring about awareness to the higher level to be conscious at all times.

Friend Zenzero, sometimes the road is difficult to walk on, You side track but nevertheless, you get back on and continue your journey. No one is ever perfect, but that won't stop me from trying. I try to live the teachings left by Osho. yes I agree awareness is important with everything you do....if you love, love with awareness..when living, live with awareness...anyways this is a quote thread..do you have any quotes to add?

Friend joea,

Sorry if the post sounded to derail the quote only thread.

Personal favorite is one which Ramkrishna Paramhansa had mentioned
*Live life like a lotus leaf*
as a lotus leaf grows in water but when the leaf is taken out of the water,
no water sticks to it. He meant that one lives life in passion but should live
in awareness such that nothing sticks to it .

To deny the reality of things is to miss their reality; to assert the emptiness of things is to miss their reality.
The more you talk and think about it, the further astray you wander from the truth.
Stop talking and thinking and there is nothing not able to be known.

Hi joea, that sounds interesting, would you care to elaborate? Please don't feel any obligation though.

FWIW, the first time *I* attempted to totally surrender to the All by opening my heart and mind fully without resistance, there was an over whelming sense of shame and humiliation as it seemed that *I* was physically totally naked and exposed with the whole world looking at me.

But kept practicing until it went from physical nakedness to mental surrender and there the shame was none the less, just different, for my most meanest little secrets were exposed to the consciousness of the world.

And so it goes on, but yes, there were other occasions that there was the opposite, the overwhelming bliss of being in harmony with Eternal Tao.

Friend ben/joea,

Pretend you are dead...and you're soon know who really loves you

The word *YOU* is the key.
Even by pretending that the *you* do not exists, you will know what others feel and think about you; is all that it says and also possibly by such a practice one slowly kills that *you*
Yes only through *conscious* DEATH is one really alive and so they are called TWICE BORN and in fact friend ben it is only then that life starts and one finds to be a part of that ocean called LIFE as there is no DEATH.

It was a bit of humor by Osho meaning, "you know who your friends are at a time of death"

Zhungzi and Huizi roamed on the bridge over River Hao. Zhuangzi said, “The tiao fish come out roaming, free and at ease (chuyou congrong). This is the joy of fish!.”

Huizi said, “You are not a fish, how can you know the joy of fish?”

Zhuangzi said, “You are not me, how can you know that I do not know the joy of fish?”

Huizi said, “I am not you, indeed I do not know you. You, indeed, are not a fish, that you do not know the joy of fish is completely clear.”

Zhuangzi said, “I beg to seek the beginning. For you have to have said ‘How can you know the joy of fish,’ it is as if you already knew that I know it and thus asked me. I know it by standing on the river Hao.”

Two modes of knowledge and reasoning are juxtaposed here. Huizi’s certainty is based on the logic of difference: analogous distinctions or disjunctions between man and fish, and between himself and Zhuangzi. Zhuangzi, by contrast, plays on the logic of fluid boundaries and claims to overcome the division of self and other. Instead of meeting Huizi’s logical argument on its own terms, he radically redefines it and affirms intuitive communion: he knows the joy of fish by standing on River Hao. Huizi concedes to not knowing Zhuangzi; Zhuangzi for his part must presume to know Huizi’s mind, even as he knows the fish. He attributes motives and emotions to Huizi’s question: implicit recognition of Zhuangzi’s own knowledge, possibly envy and irritation. The key word is you (roam, wander, play), which describes the movement of both Zhuangzi and Huizi, as well as that of the fish: the repetition here marks empathic continuity. Roaming is associated with the state of being free, at ease, and disinterested, whereby the mind can be most creative and best apprehend the world. To roam, wander, or play is also to overcome boundaries, to move from one state of being to another, to achieve the self –transformation in Daoist transcendence of the opposites of self and other, dreaming and waking, life and death.
–Wai-Yee Li (On Becoming a fish, Paradoxes of immortality and enlightenment in Chinese literature)

Thank you all so much for posting these quotes. As you can see I was gone for a while but now I have decided to come back. I was doing some inner searching and became so occupied that I forgot about RF. But Im back now and the quote Im putting here today is:

Govern a great nation as you would cook a small fish. Do not overdo it.
