tarun sagar and reservations

hello,
muni tarun sagar is a well-known and respected icon among the jains and his discourses are heard with interest by hindus too. an year or so ago he made a blatant political utterance that jains, who according to him are the true minority in india should be given reservations!!! how do the jains on this forum feel abt that? i really do not believe in making sweeping generalisations such as 'jews are rich' and 'muslims are poor' but the fact of the matter is jains have been prsperous merchants through history and have earned solid wealth by dint of their industriousness and talent in business. why would they need the crutches of reservations? and why does a muni - supposedly above such categorisations consider jains as a minority? if even munis and sadhus can't think above their restricted groups god save us all!!

come on people!! 53 views no replies!!! this is a forum for EXCHANGE of thoughts. no fun barking in the wild. can't you take honest criticism of an icon of your faith?

Jains by no means or reason deserve reservations. They are one of the most affluent communities in India (not that they owe it to anyone).
The only reason I see some Jains and Hindus supporting Jain reservation or inclusion of Jain as a minority religion (I strongly believe it is a separate religion) is to cut into quota of other religions specifically Muslims (incase a provision of religious reservation is made in constitution).
