Tattoo You

I have a couple small tattoos--one on my arm and one on my shoulder--so I am not an innocent here. Some time ago my daughter was talking of getting a tattoo when she came of age. My advise to her was to keep it small an discreet. So many people are like slathering themselves with tattoos these days, it has become the new normal. I think the time will arise when having no tattoos will become the new form of rebellion, that the bodies natural beauty will be the ultimate statement.

Your thoughts?

I personally don't like tattoos. But, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. In fact, I am thinking about getting tattoos so they would cover the scars all over my body [due to injuries]. These scars looks repulsive as hell. Other than that, tattoos are just something I feel like a edgy trend bunch of teenagers to look cool.

Some people cover their faces with tattoos. That's way overboard for me. I met a guy who had facial tattoos and it was really hard to see the person underneath all that ink.

Tattoos can also be cultural. My Maori friend has tribal tattoos that she’s quite proud of.
I have another friend who thinks of his as a badge of manhood. Not sure if his is cultural, though. Just that’s the way it seems to be treated in his family.
Ehh, perceptions I guess

I think new changeable inks will come along, and people will be able to turn tattoos on and off or even repaint them without a needle...Possibly people will be able to pick skin shades from day to day instead of being what they were born with. We'll all be walking paperwhites.

There are more people seeking to remove them now.......so some tattoo parlors offer laser removal as the fad is fading. Because they are permanent, there is no painless way to change your mind. Better to think of yourself as an older person and the impact on dress and grooming when they are no longer the "in" thing.

I personally hate them and those who are covered in satanic and violent symbols just make me want to run a mile.

Interestingly, the Bible forbade the Jews to get tattooed. (Leviticus 19:28)
In ancient times the Egyptians tattooed the names or symbols of their deities on their breast or arms. By complying with Jehovah’s law not to disfigure their bodies, the Israelites would have stood out as different from other nations. (Deuteronomy 14:1-2) Since we worship the same God, this would also hold true for Christians IMO.

I enjoy my tattoos and piercings. I want more! :D

They are a pretty normal thing where I live. I'd say 90% of folks in my age bracket and under have at least 1 tattoo. 66% have more than just the standard lobe piercings.
