Texas Bill Would Protect College Professors Who Question Evolution

I think we should we should allow Texas to succeed from the rest of the country to create it's own cute little third world theocracy that they so desperately desire, then strongly encourage all of the fundies from the other states to migrate there.

That, or just give Texas back to Mexico.

I'm guessing you meant "secede", since with measures like this one, I think we can be pretty confident Texas won't be succeeding at anything in the near future. :D

Texas is succeeding better than a lot of northern states.
Their loopy fundie ways don't prevent their being better off than rust belt denizens.

Oil helps. And that requires very little intelligence.

Creationists can do what they want with there money. I am debating a thread that is protecting a scientists right to form a theory and not be fired because someone thinks it is ID or creationism or just against evolution.
And ONCE AGAIN, I ask you present the name of even one scientist who has lost his job simply because he believes in creationism.
Will this request go completely ignored by you YET AGAIN?

I said previously if they falsified data they should be fired and If they can not form a hypotheses then it should not be entertained.
Then wahat's the problem?
I mean you have been flat out asked to present the name of even one scientist who has been fired for being a creationist and you have not done so.
Yet you keep going on and on as though this is some some of common everyday occurrence.
So common in fact, that there needs to be a law to protect them.

Now, are you going to actually present the name of a scientist who was fired because they were a creationist?

I don't think it is a good idea to create a small country in the middle of the US and fill it with religious fanatics who make thier own laws. The only thing keeping these people in check is the US constitution, the reason they want to secede is because wording like "basic human rights" gets in the way of how they want to practice thier religion.

Texas isn't in the middle of the US. Kansas is, and there's a whole lot of road between here and there.

But I agree. I'm a lifelong Texan, and I would HATE to see it downgrade itself so much as to leave the USA (again). The idea really is preposterous and silly in the extreme.

I was exactly being serious. ;) It wouldn't be realistic to pull off, anyway. And would be unfair to the sane texans.

I was talking about the idea as expressed by some of our idiot politicians, not anything that was expressed by yourself.

I'm sorry if I was unclear.

I'm not sure whether it was Rocketman, but I remember another poster doing the same thing...

Hi. No FP, it definitely wasn't me this time. I think I did that once and apologised for it.

Yes I know this thread is a little old but I rarely ever get to check this site out anymore and just happened to stumble on this thread while I was browsing today.

Hope the learning/debating is going well for you all.
