I blame @Smart_Guy for having to goto a meeting off site today....oh wait...no.... I want to go to that meeting...... but I blame him because I don't work for the group holding the meeting..... Smart_Guy keeps getting in the way of the hiring process

Is, not are. That verb-to-be refers to "revenge" here, which is singular, not "alerts". And also, "these" not "this", cuz it refers to "alerts".
