The 10 bulls/ox of zen

Hi Zenzero
enjoy what you shared. Thank you my spiritual friend.

This part has remained within my thoughts today:

"10. In the World
Barefooted and naked of breast, I mingle with the people of the world. My clothes are ragged and dust-laden, and I am ever blissful. I use no magic to extend my life; Now, before me, the dead trees become alive.
Comment: Inside my gate, a thousand sages do not know me. The beauty of my garden is invisible. Why should one search for the footprints of the patriarchs? I go to the market place with my wine bottle and return home with my staff. I visit the wineshop and the market, and everyone I look upon becomes enlightened."

The line which Onkarah has underlined. How would you say that this should be understood? How does one enlighten another?

Onkarah.

Hi zenzero,

Thanks for the link.
- The first tale had me doing this ---> <--- until (s)he got to step 9. I have yet to achieve step 10.

- The second story held some good pointers on evasion for a neophyte. ;) ...but he should have seen it coming.

- The third story I can understand, but I still feel bad for the master too. As a true master he was unafraid of death and pain. Admirable. But, statistically and historically speaking, the master would likely have not finished his sentence before the sword came out his back. :(

- The fourth was well played by the master.

Friend Onkarah,

Am sure the 10th answered your query of *helping* others etc.
Personally would have used different words as simply put where ever light enters darkness recedes on its own accord though light is not doing anything to dispel darkness. It is just his nature to be Itself.

Life. The obseravation of movement and not being seperate from that movement. Consciousness and yet not ever not being not consciousness. Not knowing and yet knowing enough to live. Science and still the being both in and beyond science. Limits yet not being limited.

This is the MIDDLE PATH of friend Gautama.
BALANCE. exactly in the center; neither to the right, nor to the left.
That is why some say, The path is like a tight rope walk or walking on the edge.
Live life to the full as there is never any death.
