Exactly.I don't see it. Things like that went away when I bought my discounted lifetime premium membership in RF awhile back.
I amortized my investment and my frustration at advertisements over the expected many, many years I expect to spend wasting...er...having an enjoyable time on RF and determined that a discounted lifetime membership to avoid ads (and related frustrations) was well worth the dilution of my luddite dinosaur purity.Exactly.
I have never paid for anything on the internet ever. Not amazon, not an app, nothing, much less content. I have never entered a card or account number into a computer in my life.
If I ever did, RF would be close to the top of the list. But I live with inconvenience far larger than the ads to maintain my luddite purity.

Yep, another bummer I'll adjust to. My onward march to provide greater wisdom will not be halted.I see a search of topics at the bottom of a thread and just above the response box

That's all well and good by users, but visitors still can get put off by all this advertising and " sponsership" crap.I amortized my investment and my frustration at advertisements over the expected many, many years I expect to spend wasting...er...having an enjoyable time on RF and determined that a discounted lifetime membership to avoid ads (and related frustrations) was well worth the dilution of my luddite dinosaur purity.

I paused my ad-block to see what all the fuss was about and holy crap. I can forgive banner ads because they aren't big or bulky. But those "You may like" ads will keep my ad block on indefinitely. Sorry, but it is so large that I have to scroll past it every time if I am typing a quick reply and need to reference someone else. And it is huge, it takes up ~70% of my screen real estate from top to bottom. No thanks. We show three banner ads and the You May Like ads at the bottom of threads.
I hardly think that qualifies as worst ever. CNN and many other sites give you a far worst experience. They also don't offer a cheap way of completely removing them either.
Perfect compromise. I have white listed the site, I would encourage others who haven't yet taken the plunge to do the same.We are going to relocate it below the Quick Reply box.
What does that mean?I have white listed the site,
Much better. =0)We are going to relocate it below the Quick Reply box.
Sorry Tom, haha. I have a program that runs in the background that blocks ads from websites. This is great for places like CNN, Youtube or any other heavily advertised website. Well, for a place like this, where I don't mind ads in lieu of supporting the website, I add the website to what I call a "white list", which means the program ignores this website and displays ads as normal. Allowing RF to count my participation for whatever payment agreement they have with the ad company. Hope this helps. What does that mean?
Please type slowly and use only words that existed before 1980, please.

I suspect the owners have cave in to their monetary lustsOops just made another thread bout it. Didn't notice yours.
To answer. Yep me too. Its starting to get ridiculous here. Looks like RF is heading to be an ad and link cesspool like Beliefnet is.
Maybe time is approaching to move on to a less intrusive site.
My issues lay with the lag mainly that results with some ads and pop ups that essentally kills the useability of the site.I suspect the owners have cave in to their monetary lusts
