In theory..... Practice however shows that socialists who get into power, use repression and thought control - and then call it "ridiculous propaganda."

Besides, history has shown that the American way of capitalism (or the "dog-eat-dog competition") has already produced the most wealthy society that has ever existed on the face of the planet. It is also the ONLY method of economics that is actually successful at lifting people out of their poverty. That is what I call success.

Socialism OTOH, has a 100% track record of complete failure every where it's been tried. So far, 168 countries have tried it to various degrees. And each one has either failed, or is fast headed in the direction of economic oblivion. Yet, each leftist firmly believes that THEY will be the smart ones, who actually "do it right" this time!!
Apparently we're talking about very different socialisms.
Are the Scandinavian countries repressive? Is the Mondragon Corporation a failure?

By "wealthy society" I assume you're referring to corporate wealth. It doesn't seem to be trickling down to the people.

Yeah, you're right. I was once walking down the street and saw the bodies of three people who had died of starvation...

Oh! Never mind - That was in India. In our countries, the welfare recipients have I-phones - and usually a better model than mine! Yes sir-eee - no trickling down of wealth here. Nope - not a thing...

Should the government be in the business of supplying health insurance at all? I think that's the real question. The whole thing seems like just another layer of welfare. Something to think about....

I have a state insurance plan, and there have been no politicians coming between my doctors and myself. On private insurance, though, I had corporate fat cats wedging themselves between myself and my doctors by denying coverage of services I needed (such as ACL and cartilege repair in my knee).
However, ideally, there shouldn't even be insurance, and instead we pay our taxes and we get health care.

Mired in bureauocracy? expensive? fraught with waste?
Balderdash! Medicare is simple, straightforward, and 'relatively' inexpensive. It operates on 3% overhead. If congress hadn't forbidden it to negotiate with drug companies it would be even cheaper.
It's our insurance based system that's bureaucratic, wasteful and expensive, Hospitals have whole departments dedicated to billing -- and negotiating with similar departments in the insurance companies.
What other country has anything like this?

Obamacare was supposed to fix all this, but instead, like every other government health care plan before it, it just made things worse.
Obamacare's not a "government healthcare plan." It's an insurance reform bill. Despite claims to the contrary, it slowed the rate of increase -- remarkable considering a key price control mechanism was deliberately sabotaged by Marco Rubio &al in an effort to sabotage the system. Marco Rubio Quietly Undermines Affordable Care Act

All government purchases are third party purchases.
The healthcare market is not like the market for cars or toasters. Healthcare isn't an optional purchase, and comparison shopping is impossible. It's an unregulated, for-profit industry.
Government 'purchased' police and fire services are generally good quality, and a great deal cheaper than anything the free market could supply. Government regulated healthcare in other developed countries manages to give good care at a fraction of the price here in the US. The facts belie the video's premise.

When the government gets involved costs go down, quality goes up, and unnecessary third party charges are eliminated. This has been the experience in every other developed country.
The video is flagrant propaganda and lies.
