The answer is a communist party

That's it. They need a communist party in US.

What else could turn things around for the real people (not the internet trolls)?
If a Communist Party got in control, that would be just as bad as a fascist party getting control.

Communists have a much higher kill count and screwed up and conquered a lot more countries than fascists did.

Au contraire!
Americastan's system has been running semi-smoothly for a couple centuries.
It's more capable of surviving corruption & incompetence than many others,
having even survived good intentions.
That's being put to the test right now. So far, there's storm clouds on the horizon.

And, the problem with communism is that a command economy does not work. The problem with libertarianism is that people are not virtuous and act in their own best interest. So, in essence, the problem is the state of the human race. Me? I'm waiting for humanity 10.0 (assuming there were 8 "human" races before now. Humanity 9.00.04 needs a serious upgrade.

The only good thing about the American system is that it made a dictatorship virtually impossible. But it did so at the cost of creating a decision-making model that only functions well in a crisis. So, if it doesn't have one, it creates it. Example: making a decision on the budget.
Crisis handling ain't all that great either.

Odd....I know no libertarian who believes that people are
virtuous, or that they always act in their own best interest.
It's about giving the state less power to decide for us what
virtue is, or what our best interest is.

America already has a communist party. Unfortunately, through the actions of people like McCarthy and his cronies the average American thinks communism (and to a lesser extent, socialism) = America immediately exploding in a blaze of godless "subversion".
Fortunately, more and more people seem to be fed up with the bourgeoisie as the years go by.

Communism. You might as well try to recruit me to Nazism! The communists have shown they're just as evil as the Nazis.

In fact both parties are socialist. The Nazis were national socialists and the communists were global socialists.

One big problem with communism is that there will always be people who don't like communism and communists end up killing "just those people" but there are always more people that don't like it or "don't get it". So the communists never stop murdering people.

Communism and murder go hand in hand.

How much power should a government have?

If it is corrupt and inefficient, it should have none. It should be replaced.

If it is free of corruption and makes the right decisions, it should have all the power it needs to implement its policies.

This isn't about evil but inefficiency.

The eternal question....not one quickly answered.
If it is corrupt and inefficient, it should have none. It should be replaced.

If it is free of corruption and makes the right decisions, it should have all the power it needs to implement its policies.
Governments will always endure inefficiency & corruption to varying degrees.
The trick is to implement one which optimizes our well being.
Of course, the definition of "well being" will vary from person to person.

Explain please - about marx. Why flawed????

Marx states that value is proportional to the labor expended to make the object in question.

But that cannot be true. If I spend four hours a day digging a hole, and then four hours a day filling that hole back in and do that same thing every day for a year... is there anything of value I have made??

If the answer is yes, well, explain. If the answer is no, then Marx's value theory must be wrong, or at the very least, incomplete.

Where does value come from in your opinion?

Value is subjective, that much is obvious.
