For sure you are not alone here in this. If you know how many times I re-edit my post:oops:. And I found out it need to be done within 24h. After that it stands solid on the internet for eternity or a new Big Bang or D.T pressing his "red button".

I see I have just some time left to edit this post where I corrected you, take out the colors and big letters. No need anymore now;)

Probably you were blessed by a temporary "no mind" state. After writing this I see that your religion shows "Narrow-minded Biblist". First time I see this as religion, but seems to me that it might be a bit connected with "no mind state". So it all makes some sense after all.
Um, my mind was involved, my vocabulary failed. Perhaps "universally personal message" might have been better .

Is the bible true but the names, places and events have been changed to protect the guilty/innocent.

What I mean is that once all the veneer and the strange twisted arguments and reasoning are stripped away is there a universal coherent message in the bible?
what what what?

Which are you asking, the first or the second?

You really think if it was all true the names and plcaes would have been changed for privacy reasons?:grinning:

Actually I think 'fraud' is the wrong word to describe the reasons for the content of ancient scripture and literature. I consider 'fraud' as more illegal acts for personal gain, or wrongful claims of accomplishment or gain.

Ancient scripture evolved edited, compiled and redacted from earlier sources, often oral traditions and myths, to reflect the beliefs of those in control, or desiring of control and influence, at the time. The invention and evolution of writing and printing contributed to setting scripture and ending the changes that took placed over time. There was a period of time in most cultures that groups of literate scribes within a system of recognized authority and responsibility compiled, preserved, and set the scripture that we have today. In Judaism this period of time was between ~1000 to 500 BCE. In Christian scriptures the period of time is ~150 to ~500 BCE.

Pretty much all religions, churches, sects, and belief systems claim that they reflect the universal in one way or another regardless of how you choose to word it.

I'll paraphrase pilot then, "What is reality?"

Do you know?
Objective reality is the world external to the self, which the senses are capable of informing us about. It's made up of things which exist independently of the concept of them in any brain. It's the same thing as the realm of the physical sciences.

Yes. The people here are not historical figures, and all of it is meant to tell a story of what existence is actually about. I learned much of it from a comparative study of several different religions, so I'm not convinced the average Bible thumper will get the memo.

This is why taking the Bible literally is such a mistake.

And do you think your brain fully grasps all of reality?

The Old Testament is the Jewish bible, truly, their history. The New was written by Jews yet also its writers rejected at that time.

To answer you briefly - the coherent message in the Bible is that God saves. Loves. Has a plan.

The Savior can be seen in the Old and New Testament. Old is largely predicting His coming - New is confirmation.

I disagree that the New Testament was exclusively written by Jews. Paul was a Hellenist Jew, but not close to traditional Judaism. The gospels were compiled, edited and redacted over a period of time from ~150 to ~500 AD, by unknown authors likely the Church Fathers with a heavy Greek (Hellenist) and Roman influence.

Saul, was a Pharisee. Punishing followers of Jesus. He was then changed by Christ. Paul said of himself he was "a Jew of Jews" (very Jewish)

I meant to say largely by Jews but basically, yes.

The letters were all written within the first 60 ish years after the Ascension. The last being John's Revelation around 90 AD.

I said they weren't ever intended by their writers to be in a book together. It's fascinating that they are. Other texts from that time period can be read or taken into account but those were chosen based on their content.

Paul's letters, not all the letters are authored by Paul, were composed approximately in that time period. Based on the evidence Paul appeared to be more committed to Rome than Judaism. The dates and authorship of the gospels is more open to question as written by Jews. The gospels in their present form likely evolved, edited and compiled between ~150 to ~500 AD, by mostly non-Jewish Church Fathers.

Paul indeed used his dual citizenship to get places others couldn't but for a higher cause.

It was normal for people to have scribes write for them as well.

Paul was also not really obligated to follow Jewish religious tradition anymore after his conversion. He had a new mission.

I think you found the message. Now strip away the veneer
