The Catholic Church should be shut down

Again, I have nothing against buildings

If you are a CEO of a large company you are responsible for its behaviour and attitude, it's presence in the market place.
The Catholic Churches CEOs, aka The Pope, have an awful record on this. You can try to deflect all you like (We're not talking about the NHS, Sports teams or pop stars) , and yes, many others are guilty to some degree of similar crimes, but it is the man (always a man) at the top of The Catholic Church who should clean it up. Once and for all.
The Pope's failure to do this will lead to its downfall.

The Catholic Church's reputation is lower than Facebook and that says something. By all means start a thread on the British Government, the NHS, pop stars or whatever. BUT DON'T CHANGE THE TOPIC HERE - as my mum said "Two wrongs do not make a right"

OK...... let's see if this Pope will 'come through' on all this.
I hope that the RCC will open up to all and any police force investigations.
I hope that it does.

OK........ fair enough.........
I expect that many countries do hold Vatican City in high regard (if not respect) because it represents a billion and a quarter people. That's about four US populations?
Vatican City only has about 1,000 people, not "a billion and a quarter," and Vatican City does not have a permanent population.

Except for a very small handful of clergy and administrative staff, the world's Catholics are not citizens of Vatican City.

Catholics in some countries probably represent a good lump of the vote.
Yep - that's why I still pay for Catholic schools with my tax dollars despite this practice being roundly condemned by the UN.

I reckon we have exhausted this debate, really. I do hope that all and any sex criminals are punished, whoever, wherever and whatever they are, regardless of victim genders or ages. Let's leave it to Judges to decide upon each case individually, eh?
A refreshing change from your earlier position, since you just spent quite a bit of time arguing against my suggestion that the Catholic Church should be prosecuted as the law allows.

The Roman Catholic Church should not be permitted to operate any longer. It’s a crime ridden organization masquerading as a religion. The sex abuse cases that continue to pour into the media are horrific and mind blowing. Mind blowing that the cover ups are all through the hierarchy. Any other organization in the secular sphere would be shut down. And people would be arrested. Everyone who was complicit in this, should be arrested. Every priest, every bishop, every cardinal, even the pope if that’s the case. Bill Cosby is 80 years old and stood trial, age should have nothing to do with these dudes being allowed to get away with these crimes.

The government should shut this organization down because it has been committing crimes for decades.

What are your thoughts?

Unrealistic. It would require a global effort to even get off the ground let alone to be maintained. The result would just drive the Church underground at best. Far better to start enforcing laws follow by penalties and fines. Start tossing the part of the hierarchy relocating priests, thus obstruction of justice, in jail. Fine the RCC millions for it's misconduct in each case.

The USA did not sign the Geneva Convention.

The US did sign it. However it did not ratify parts of it thus is not legal bound by sections as to be legal bound requires ratification by US law. For example it never ratified sections regarding irregular forces so terrorists are not treated as combatants thus have no protection a legal combatant has.

Yeah yeah........ 1.25 billion Catholics.

You got a vote..,.... so use it.
But it's best to pay your taxes until you can change anything about their use. Yeah?

Still do.
It's the individuals who commit crimes, and any who aid and abet that I would see convicted.

If you want to shout and scream for conspiracy convictions then carry on........ from your armchair?
I only ever detained individuals, but probably a few more than you ever did?

Good Luck with your crusade against criminal priests, I'd sooner focus upon anyone who commits.......

Huh? How come that the US military uses hollow points and other un-encased rounds? Am I right?

Signed but not ratified...... what gobbledegook is that? :p

You are wrong thats whats.

How come that the US military uses hollow points and other un-encased rounds? Am I right?

Wrong convention. That is the Hague Convention. It only apples to nations that signed it. So in practice if two nations, X and Y, were in a war but only X signed the Hague Convention hollow points are not banned as Y is not party to the agreement. More so the US never ratified section 4 which covered that type of ammo so the point is moot anyways

Signed but not ratified...... what gobbledegook is that? :p

It is called US law regarding treaties. Look it up.

Which the US didn't sign up to........

.

The World's Nations are not subject to US law, and nor, for that matter, is the Vatican.

In any event, if you want the Vatican shut down because of the actions of 1% of its priests or even because some seniors within it witheld information, you're having a laugh. That's like the World expecting the US (or UK or any country) to shut down because it had a naughty President. Have you ever had a naughty President?

What are you talking about? I said the very idea of shutting down the RCC globally is unrealistic

I live just down the road from a birth control clinic (Marie Stopes), I drive past it on the way to work every day, observing two or three Catholics making an ostentatious protest outside with their little banners and their "showy" praying (maybe two days out of five?). Sometimes I feel I should pull up and ask them if they made a similar protest about the children raped by Catholic priests, then I remind myself that these people have almost certainly been indoctrinated from an early age, so such a question would be pointless. They don't live in a completely isolated bubble right? They are aware that their religious organisation hides paedophiles right? However, god works in mysterious ways etc., paedophilia has a purpose in god's economy, obviously, numbskull.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has pulled up; do you feel you made any sort of dent? If so, testify!

I've always liked that word.

As far as the topic goes, the Pope is visiting Ireland, and looks like this has become a very serious focus now. Finally.

No doubt a lot of issues are going to be brought up with the Pope visiting. However I doubt those issues will be resolved. I expect pandering.

Religion is only system developed by humans, it does what people does, nothing on its own.

According to you, if Rabbi's are doing this then the State of Israel is condoning it too.

When Rabbi’s routinely spit in the faces of Christians in the city of Jerusalem should this concern us or not?

This does concern me and it should concern you too !!

OMG!
I opened your link and watched the vids.
If that happened here (UK) I would expect the spitter to be immediately arrested, charged, tried, sentenced ....... that is a serious assault here and can lead to actual bodily harm or even grievous bodily harm (although tough to prove).

I didn't know that ..............

Everybody is human.-true
Humans are susceptible to change.-true
We act out from our inner environments.-true
Naturally we will get criminals and sinners in all brackets of institutions, including religious institutions.- true

If the infestation is too severe, down to the tips of its roots, simply cutting the stem will no be enough for its disease will inflict the ground.-true
It must be plucked whole and burned, leaving no existence of its trace.- Symbolic of the black plague.-true
If this sort of institution attracts demons than why should we allow it to persist even in dogmatic character? It should not.

If your hand or your foot causes you to fall into sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than to have two hands and two feet and be thrown into the eternal fire. 9And if your eye causes you to fall into sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.
