Because there is no proof that the confession took place. Let's say a priest doesn't like me and he goes to the police and says that I confessed rape or something. How will I prove that I never made such confession????

The confessional garbage, which gives people absolution from their crimes should be scrapped as it has no place in the 21st century, imo. RCCs should be able to discuss their wrong doings with a priest on the understanding that they would be encouraged to confess their crimes to the authorities, and if they don't the priest will inform them.

I am of the opinion that if someone confesses to a priest a serious crime, they should be obliged by law to inform the police. Giving the miscreant a few hail Mary's is not going to absolve them of their wrong doing. For instance, if the RCC had cracked down on paedophile priests and reported them to the police instead of keeping the knowledge of their misdeeds in house, they would not have been free to abuse again as many of them did.

It's not just pedophile priests that prey on a congregation, it's the pro homosexual abusers of the flesh and the heterosexual fornicators in a church that are trying to destroy the moral order also. Like Satan, they twist the scriptures in order to try to justify their sins and legitimize their immoral lifestyles, and they lead others astray also.
