The contestants of the Miss America competition sound off on evolution.

Thats great dude.... but the fact is, they're hot and they dont go to church.

creation 0
reality 1

Well if you base "going to church" as to whether they believe in a Creator, that's your opinion. 53% believe in a "Spirit or Life Force" in addition to the 23% who believe in God.

Thus only 24% are "Atheist" according to these polls.

And it's proven worldwide that women tend to be more religious than men. So likely the balance is about 30% of the men are Atheists and less than 20% for the woman.

If you apply "going to church" as definition of "religious" or "Creationist", then what does the definition of Atheist entail?

If the question was, how many of them accept evolution, I think you might find that the number of swede's that accept evolution is closer to 100%.

The interesting thing about religious people in most of europe compared to the US, is that most of them accept evolution. Because the two are not mutually exclusive.

Around 70% (68%) of Swedes accept the Theory of Evolution (aka Macroevolution speculation), but of those, you can assume that most of them are of the "Theistic" sort.

Only 24% of Swedes claim they "Don't know what happens after death".

In many countries, like Russia, the ratio of Atheist men to women is 2 to 1.

So its possible that only 35% of the women are accepting the TOE.

I like how you stretch polls and facts to fit your theories. Give it up, you are fighting a losing battle.

Well I accept the fact of "Microevolution" as I stated earlier, but the THEORY of Evolution is purely speculative and runs in the face of most observations of Microspeciatoin events.

As I stated earlier, Natural Selection clearly favors the Creationists, whether they believe in the observed facts of Microevolution or not. If you can find 50 similar looking Atheist girls let me know. Perhaps you can explain why the best "survivable" females seem to be Creationist?

Wow, you somehow managed not to listen to them at all. Well done! Lol. They were not all creationists, it may surprise you to learn.

The rest of your post makes no sense. Please go read a book about biology. Thanks. ;)

My wife is a registered nurse, specializing in labor and delivery. She is also blonde, pretty, and outgoing. All her career she has fought the perception among her coworkers, doctors, and administrative staff that therefore she's just a bobblehead who's not to be taken seriously. My career has forced us to move around a bit, and each time she started somewhere new these sorts of issues arose, and each time most folks eventually saw past the surface and started treating her with the respect she deserves, both professionally (she's one hell of a nurse...gets lots of awards) and as a person.

We have two daughters, 11 and 8, who are both pretty and intelligent. I'd hate to think that one day in the future if someone were to ask them what they thought on a subject, everyone would just laugh, make snide comments, and dismiss them simply because of their sex, age, and looks.

We can debate the merits of beauty pageants and what they mean, and we can debate the relevancy of these ladies' opinions on evolution, but that doesn't mean you have to act like a misogynistic jerk and make degrading, sexist comments about them.

Hey, now, I have nothing against beautiful women - what I have is contempt for women who want to compete with each other to see who is the prettiest, and for their corporate / cultural enablers. I think it is a mental illness.

If my posts make no sense to you, its quite telling who is in need of the read.

The over-reactions (vicious prejudiced comments) by some here could also be symptomatic of mental illness.
The healthiest response is to not care.
One good thing about beauty pageants - there's no chance a French driver will careen into the leaders, knocking them over & into a barbed wire fence. (It's a Tour de Crash reference.)

I wonder how long it will be until we have a "Prettiest RF Avatar" contest?
Mystic & Eliot Wild are a real threat to my dominance.
In the talent competition, it will be whip vs shovel vs snappy retort.

Well I have to care a little or I will lose all my feminist street cred. It's not like I'm picketing outside the event - I just think beauty contests are socially destructive, and I am not at all interested in what the contestants have to say on any subject.

I might be interested to hear what Ms Massechussets (the biologist) has to say about evolution, but not in the context of getting to know her a little better. It would only be because she's better qualified to formulate an informed opinion on the subject than I am, mental illness aside. The rest of them can suck eggs. ;)

So I take it you wouldn't be able to find 50 "educated" (cough cough) girls who aren't Creationist but look like Miss USA girls.

Natural Selection scorecard: Creationists : 1 Macros: 0
You didn't answer my question. Why are you trying to suggest something so spurious?

As I said, the debate over the pageants themselves is a different subject. What I objected to was the assumption that because they are young, pretty women, they are therefore empty-headed morons whose opinions aren't worth listening to.
