those who give up and hand things over to god.
What God has promised to do has nothing to do with giving up. If a rich uncle promised you a new car, how would this be giving up. If the old clunker was about ready to expire, I would be happy to accept a new model, anyone would, in most cases.

On the other hand . . .
God may be considered to be a mega-super volcano. If you had data that demonstrated you lived next to such a phenomena and knew it would go bang next year with a 100% certainty, would you not move away to some distant safe location if you could! that would save both you and your family.

God has promised that about 90% of our present human population shall be killed off soon, at least that is what I get from it. I would personally prefer to not be among that number. I don't know about you; perhaps, you are the type who takes a camping chair and a Budweiser for a close up view to experience the biggest bang of all close up. :D

What we have and have to work with is the clunker. Some of us realize this and want to make the clunker into not a clunker and fix it up.
I don't know about you;
I don't believe in or depend of fairy tales to make the world better. If we want a better world, it's something we have to do. I'm sure god would appreciate us growing up and taking care of things on our own and not depending on him for everything like an infant depends on their parent.

Are humans and Chimps of the same kind?
There is debate if they should be classified as hominids or not. It wouldn't make us the same kind, but it would put us much closer than ever previously acknowledged. We are genetic/evolutionary cousins, after all.

From where I sit, perspective, you do in the most fear inspiring way. When people no longer accept that ID is what makes our world run around both for our own machinery and for our own wonderful bodies and ecosystems, that means to me that you believe in the worst fairy tale of all. So, it simply comes down to perspective again. If I were to accept your beliefs, it would benefit me in no ways at all, except that you guys all would try so hard to make everyone accept your tale.

Do not forget Hans Christian Andersen's tale of the Emperor's clothes. Among all those looking at the emperor, only a little girl dared speak up and say, "he's naked." (just paraphrasing) I think metaphorically, I am that little girl and that the emperor is your paradigm of self creation.

Actually I claim to have no knowledge or beliefs regarding such a thing. I do not believe in any "man up stairs," and I'm certain this life is it, but that is where I stop because I have knowledge, no evidence, no facts.

Actually, the Bible teaches that death is the return to not being, destruction of all that a person is. Nothing remains after death except the decomposing body void of what it was and gradually being consumed by nature.

The promise for the believer is a recreation called the resurrection where the non wicked will be recreated when the kingdom is installed on earth under a global rulership.

I give not one damn about what the Bible says. With all the genocide, violence, rape, slavery, and cruelty, it's something I want nothing to do with. And not too mention that torment and trauma I endured when I did believe in it.

He made no such promise. Christians have been predicting the end of the world for close to 2,000 years. They have an amazing record of failure. In fact the date is at least 1,900 years late. Jesus promised that it would end come the lives of the apostles he was talking to died.

Oh, yeah, the atheist viewpoint is soo important. I am not sure why you even bother with it! Is it because of insecurities caused by the emptiness of atheism and your paradigm?!

If you were a believer, it might be worth a little to talk about this and what was promised, why the delay, and whatnot. With an unbeliever who is totally against all 'mythical things' as you like to phrase it (kind of), it is a useless topic. It is a shame you cannot put your unbelief aside and simply try to learn what we have.

It is not just the atheist viewpoint. It is the viewpoint of most Christians. Most Christians laugh at the end of the world predictions.

And it is the damage that Bible literalists attempt to do to this country that causes others to react to them. If you kept your rather ignorant views to yourself no one would care.

On a religious forum to be dictated to be quiet by an atheist rather than speak up about the religious issues - you're truly funny, and again, and again, and again, you play your ever 'your rather ignorant views' card. Is that all you can say continually.

It is funny, every time I tell an unbeliever stuff like that I get a warning from the website MODs. All you seem to get is a pat on the back. Good job - ungodly person, or is atheist the approved word of choice.

Please I did not tell you to be quiet. You were trying to tell me to be quiet and I explained why atheists are constantly correcting you.

And no, I too have gotten little notes. I don't think that I have reported your excesses. I know that I tend to push the rules myself.

And please, what is this "ungodly" nonsense? That is an attempt at an attack. When it comes to morals you will find that the average atheist outperforms the average Christian.

Please define, just for the fun of it, what the word atheist means - strictly speaking it means without god, just as amoral means without morals, here the dic. says, "lacking a moral sense" - so without morals. In this then, if a person is without god, the dic.'s definition is, "not accepting God or a particular religious doctrine; irreligious;atheistic:"

In this strict sense an atheist is ungodly - by the dictionary, mind you.
I frankly get irritated when you continually attack with this 'ignorance' stuff of yours. Either discuss things on level, and if your opinions is diametrically opposed so that no discussion is warranted, desist and don't get involved.

I only discuss things on a religious level, from that viewpoint. This includes my viewpoint of science from that view.

So on that not so I may join in on the fantasy, it's obvious Woman was grown from a boner. It's a magical boner bone rib bone. I mean it's metaphorical because kids will read it I am giving you the adult grown up version.. Trust me I have a degree!!!!

A boner is mostly blood but it's a great observation! And since men and woman anatomically have the same number of ribs the story of how woman were invented is probably just a fairy tale.

I think God is a woman because women are too damn beautiful to be created by a male God. When my wife gave birth to my children I felt she was the most sacred object for me on Earth along with my children. Men full of thrust and intent. But women are sublime like God. I think God is a woman.

You are aware that this is a religious debate forum, right? As in, "a forum where the topic of religion is discussed", not "a forum in which the viewpoint and needs of religious theists goes unchallenged by atheists".

And, do debates mean to infer that one side is called ignorant or "ignorant views" continually. A debate is one thing, this other putting down continually is not about debating, it is about elevating yourself at another's expense.

You can have any opinion you want, but the same should count in my direction. I don't care if you are atheist, Buddhist, Hinduism, or Animalist, but, even if I were to believe that the universe is nothing but a hologram on some whizkid's supercomputer, that is no reason to putting me down. You can say you don't share my beliefs, etc. But, keep the insults to yourself. I happen to believe 100% in the Bible, and that is my choice. You have the right to disagree, for whatever chosen reasons you like. However, if you start slinging dirt, I don't mind taking the gloves off a little either.
