There's good evidence that the "apple" in the Garden of Eden was actually a cookie, or at least some sweet-tasting bakery product of some sort.

Thanks to modernish diagnostic technology we now know that original manuscripts all said, "The fruit [filling ]of the [pas]tree[y] of Knowledge".

Unfortunately ancient scribes spilled coffee on those bits, hence the confusion.
