The Frubal Free Market Failure and the Problems inherent in a socialised Frubal economy

The changes to the system have impacted me:

  • Negatively

  • Neither positively nor negatively

After a short break from RF I have discovered that the forums have gone from a free market economy to a socialist one.

Have these changes impacted you as a member? If so, how?

I'm not here for the furballs. For me, it has always been about the comments that come with them.

I'm gonna be posting here with or without frubals. I'm here to express myself, not for frubals.

They are worth less points, but the act of fruballing makes me feel good, even so. "It isn't the quantity, it is the quality"

The concept of frubals was always an odd one for me. A comments with an arbitrary ''value'' attached to them :areyoucra ,there were people who were using the frubal count as a symbol of status on the forum, a certain amount of acquisition was ok until the concepts of new money and old money came into play, people who were making frubals for there own sake were looked on with disdain by certain members of the established hierarchy. The fact that capitalism has seemingly been abandoned is very interesting in a social experiment kind of way.

It's all about the numbers......my self-esteem depends upon them. But now I stagnate in a room temperature rating,
unable to improve by more than a point or so every few months....on the rare occasion that someone takes pity.

I would frubal you, but you know.......meh!

It's less complicated this way.

I like it better.

It's not like frubals hold any tradable properties like money...
it doesn't affect your lifestyle,
or your ability to get health care
(I sure wish they did)
so I don't really get the comparison.

They were already so numerically meaningless,
what does it really matter?

IMO

Considering that the number of frubals one can get makes more sense now, I like the change.

I never really understood the old way.

The only problem I can see now is that the existing members frubals haven't been reset to zero, which isn't really fair on new members, especially because there are elements of the forum that are affected by the number of frubals you have.

But that is secondary to this thread, I find it interesting that capitalism is so abhorrent that it had to be abandoned :biglaugh:

All I know is that I was raking them in before.....now it'll take me 100 years to get a 1% boost.
(I think I've even lost a few.)

Except that capital is necessary to capitalism.

Investment is the commitment of money or capital to purchase financial instruments or other assets in order to gain profitable returns in form of interest, income, or appreciation of the value of the instrument. It is related to saving or deferring consumption. ...

Frubals are forum assets, like all currency they have no value except the value members put on them, in this regard the system was capitalistic in nature.

I seem to recall you were quite irked when you felt your frubals were devalued by the new moneyed contigent, if they truly held no value to you why would you have been irritated?
