The Future For LGBT Catholics

It has been noted by some, that homosexual births go up in times of great stress. This would be an evolutionary advantage after war, or famine, to slow the birth rate, allowing the tribe to recover, rebuild, and regrow enough food to support the tribe.

Something very similar from the book I have been referencing, "It (homosexuality) may be one of nature's ways of controlling population, and hence completely natural as a normal control group for the general population." And it continues; ".....it is simple-minded and wrong-headed to call it perversion, as if it were something maliciously chosen by human beings. It is stupid and cruel to attempt to force such true homosexuals to see their sexuality otherwise; they simply can't. No amount of will power and no amount of spirituality can alter the fact that they are erotically aroused by members of their own gender.
.....call them in faith to make of their homosexuality a sign of the Kingdom just as heterosexuals are to do."

Yep. There are other interesting ideas as well, but the evolutionary advantage one is simple and makes the most sense.

I suspect that eventually the Church will accept LGBT people as we are. Probably not in our lifetimes, though, since change is extremely slow in the Church. At this point they're just rejecting science, the lived lives of LGBT people and logic by rejecting LGBT people. I mean, if they can do a 180 on the subject of Jews and stop teaching that they're cursed Christ-killers who can be discrimated against and who need to repent and then go on to declare anti-Semitism a sin at Vatican 2, they can change on this, too. Until then, though, I'll always be a little angry at the hierarchy and view them as backwards, hypocritical (especially since a huge proportion of the clergy are gay themselves!) and cold - for this and other reasons. But as a transsexual, I doubt they care what I think since I'm sinning more seriously than a gay person is in their view.

Such change......would literally bring an end to the Catholic Church. I'd certainly have no more reason to be catholic.

You've been around long enough to know that some things change in the RC and some things will never.

I won't even bother with your Jew comment. It wasn't even something even connected to our theological thinking. It's quite absurd really.

The axis your faith revolves around is not accepting LGBT people? Um, okay.

Umm.......no.

I was raised by a transgender man so don't give me that crap. It would have nothing to do with the LGBT.......only the claim of dogma not changing would then be false and therefore bring down the institution.

Of course whether Jews are cursed by God and murdered God in the flesh has theological import.

Tell me where exactly that is part of what we hold officially? News to me....
