The goal of Islam

gnostic

The Lost One
What is the NUMBER ONE goal of Islam?

Eg Salvation or resurrection, entry into Paradise, to be with Allah, worship Allah, pray 5 times a day, help people in need, help people to convert, being a servant of Allah, etc.

This is just a list of brainstorming, so it might not be any of the above listed.

What do you think is the ultimate primary goal of Islam?

(IMPORTANT) I want what the Qur'an say, or your interpretation of what the Qur'an say. But more importantly, I want your opinion of what this goal might be. Please don't just quote. Quoting from the Qur'an without explanation or your personal view is not debating.

I think its just to believe in what they believe. Because theres no assurance of salvation in their belief system. Not even Muhammad knew where he was going. But like i said maybe to just have their same belief and no other. They might tell you "just to worship one God" but theres more to it. IMO

You are far from the truth that Islam is about submission!
It is a deep spiritual connection with God!
They pray just as Mahammad (peace be upon him) Abraham, and Jesus did! They take the Quran and the Bible seriously! It is a world of piety to obtain on a stright path with the ways of human existence to consider.we all seek a spiritual enlightenment to serve in a better way. This is what Islam is about. I find Islam a great way to see if 1 just opens up their eyes and their heart to it. Allahu Akbar! (GOD is Great!)

the goal of islam is to know who you are and why you are created?, Who you are answer is you are a servant of the god the creator, why you are created answer is "And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me"

when you know both, you will do the other you mentioned, from being praying 5 times a day, help poor, help others to find the happiness and the truth you find, and at end you will be in the paradise with the god the creator of you
it's a chain

While you subject yourself to submission what can you say about your service?
Stephenw - it is important you speak of your service than simply submit!

Islam is here to teach us a message that will bring us closer to our creator and will ensure eternal life of happiness with our creator, this is the message of Islam :)

By praying five times a day, Fasting in the month of Ramzan and giving charity to the poor, helps the believer to remain pure and most certainly brings him closer to Allah(swt).

How in the world does "good works" get you any closer to God? How do you know that if your giving this one guy some money that says he needs it and may be using it for another reason, is good? And how does that affect a relationship with God himself?

While you take works as a "way"
Realize that god is in your heart 1st and formost and that the show of hands that perform the actions are to express the deep connection with god.
To go through the motions just to qualify for heaven is not the way of Islam!
It is a genuine act and please do not place it like going through the motions in a "just because it is right manner"
Thanks!

Jihad Against Terrorism
It is said that the first verse of the Holy Quran is a summary of the entire Quran. That being the case the goal of Islam is "Bismillah" which translates to "In the name of Allah". And in fact that is the goal of Islam.

Allah is beyond any human comprehension and we can never completely understand Him. However, we can understand those attributes of His that He has revealed to us. And then we can try to adopt those attributes and become godlike human beings. That really is the goal of Islam.

A few examples:

Attribute 2 of Allah - Ar Raheem - Ever Merciful
That is, Allah is One who rewards efforts. Who gives results for hard work. Who forgives when forgiveness is prayed for. The attribute of Raheem refers to the Allah who gives plentiful for negligible efforts by human beings.
So a human can adopt this attribute after understanding it in his/her own life.

Attribute 1 of Allah - Ar Rahmaan - The Gracious
That is, Allah is One who gives without anyone ever asking. Like the creation of the sun, water, etc. which benefit humans regardless of their religion (or lack thereof).
For a human this may be thought of as the next step after Ar Raheem. To emulate Allah's attribute of Ar Rahmaan and give in charity, help even enemies, etc.

In summary, the first verse (or rather the first half of the first verse - and both examples were from the same verse) really answers the question.

Bismillah - In the name of Allah

Friends,

Personal understanding of what friend tariqkhwaja is that we are all born in human forms with god like qualities and to realize those qualities to personal understanding is to be *enlightened*.

To lift mankind from servitude of existing things in this world to serving the Creator of creation. This servitude is submission to the Creator and the Arabic word for it is Islam. And the reward for that servitude and submission is infinite happiness in the afterlife, but is at the end of the day only possible through God's grace. And he extends His Grace to every human being in this worldly life.

The spiritual part of Islam is about submission to Allah, but the political is about establishing a Islamic state under Shariah law.

well good work in islam is one of the goal that the muslims must acheive in his life
and he will ber rewarded for it it called the fullfiment of the earth and secsesion of god in the earth
from the murcy of god on us that he put work far more advanced than prayer to the almighty god thise is why muslims canot live like monks because you generate a lot more goodness with youre work better than youre prayer
and the best of it is giving mony to the poor and it s an obligation for rich muslims to share a part of there mony with poor

mohamed said ,, be merciful with who s in the earth and god will look at you with mercy

Why does God want us to worship Him?
