The Gospel Story Quiz

Muffled

Jesus in me
Actually, I shall return the frubal, as my quote I intended as being Luke 24:4 was actually Luke 24:24, so I actually failed.

I was too hasty. And would therefor like to revise my answer.

Luke 24:4 actually states that "And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:"

Now, from the information given, I cannot be certain whether these two men were in the tomb, or outside the tomb. I suppose we could take it for granted that they were still inside the tomb. But it is not clear from this verse, nor the verses surrounding it. The words "and it came to pass" imply some length of time had passed. Were they still in the tomb, when they saw these two men? I just don't know.

Mark 16:5 states, "And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted."

Here again, the scripture is unclear where this young man was when the women entered into the tomb of Jesus. Was he just outside the tomb on the right side of the tomb as they entered in? Or was he inside the tomb. It is not clear from the verses we read.

In Mathew's account, "a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it." (Mathew 28:2)

Is this the same man that was sitting on the right side of the tomb? I don't know.

In the Gospel of John, we see that Mary saw two angels sitting inside the tomb. It could very well be that all accounts are true, and we just don't know exactly what happened because we weren't there to witness the order of events.

Not only that but they could have been in and out of the tomb more than once sometimes together and sometimes separtely.

The quiz is useless, because there isn't "a gospel story." There are four gospel stories, each distinct from the other. They are not contradictory in the sense in which each was written, because each gospel does not seek an accurate, factual account of historical events. Each gospel, rather, has a particular theological agenda in the ordering of events and recounting of detail. They are only "contradictory" in the most surface, empirical sense of misusing the accounts to come up with one, cohesive, factual account (which none of them were designed to do).

All the quiz really does is illustrate one of two things: 1) the ignorant mistreatment of the gospels and misrepresentation of their intent by the creator of the quiz, 2) the malicious mistreatment of the gospels and misrepresentation of their intent by the creator of the quiz.

Thing is, there are no correct answers. No matter what you chose the other choice contradicts it. This is the whole purpose of the quiz; to point out the contradictory elements of the Bible.

Which is why fantôme profane could not have gotten any right.
I figured. I was laughing after a point.

Dear Readers, The above is False Teaching since there is but ONE Gospel message which each of the four books, at the beginning of the New Testament, correctly teaches. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is that He died for our sins, was buried but arose the third day, according to the Scriptures. 1Co 15:1-9

Be careful who you listen to when they claim to know of things which they do not. 1Jo 4:1 Their views may sound good, but they CANNOT show them Scripturally. God Bless all of you.

1 Cor. isn't a gospel. It's an epistle. Here's the gospel message -- according to the (gospel) scriptures: "Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, and saying, 'The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news.'” That's the gospel message from Mark 1:14-15.

Beware of yourself, then. You haven't shown anything scripturally.

I got 20/20. I chose "all of the above" for all answers.

Curiously, the same strategy didn't work so well on my SATs.

Dear sojourner, The gospel of kingdom, which you speak of, was REJECTED by the Jews. Don't you remember? IF Jesus had been accepted as their Messiah, He wouldn't have had to die. Would HE?

You have confused the good news to the JEWS, who rejected it, with the death for our sins, burial, and resurrection the third day, according to the Scriptures,of Jesus Christ, which is the ONLY Gospel. Scripture WARNS us of those who teach "another Gospel".

Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

To be accursed is to be excommunicated from the Church. it's Anathama for Christians. Why don't you know that? Are you in a group which has been accursed? God Bless you.

Immaterial. That's what the bible says. It's proved scripturally that that's the message of good news Jesus went about preaching -- no matter who rejected it.

Yes. By all means, beware of those who are teaching a gospel different from what the gospel (not Paul's letter) says.

Just so you know, I don't appreciate your snarky and irrelevant personal comments. God cannot bless such trash, and it is anathema to love.

Dear sojourner, Jesus preached the Kingdom Gospel to the Jews ONLY, who promptly rejected it. He was saying that the kingdom of God is within you. Luk 17:21 The Kingdom of God is "come near" for it is in Jesus. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is NOT the Kingdom Gospel as you keep ignoring. It has NO power to save, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ IS the power of God unto Salvation.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Now, it's your time to show us that the Kingdom Gospel has the power of God unto Salvation. I know you cannot, but go ahead and try. IF the Kingdom Gospel had saved mankind, then Jesus would NOT have had to die. Would He? God Bless you.

Meaningless, unsubstantiable, double talk. The bible never talks about a "kingdom gospel." Unless you can magically produce that term from the texts.

Jesus' assertion that the kingdom has come near is a testimony to the Incarnation, which reconciles us to God. Read John 1.

Dear sojourner, Easy, since it's the Gospel or good news of the Kingdom of God which Jesus preached to the Jews....BEFORE....His death for the sins of mankind, His burial and His resurrection from the dead on the third day, according to the Scriptures. That is the Gospel of good news of TODAY, for EVERYONE, and NOT just for the Jews, like the old Kingdom Gospel. Here is where you can find the "kingdom gospel" you can't seem to find in your Bible.

Mat 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

And, of course the verse which you just cited:

Mar 1:14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

Could it be that you are reading one of the paraphrased Bibles, of a group which doesn't like what Scripture actually says? Use the KJV. God Bless you.

Mine says "Good news of God." I use the NRSV, arguably one of the most accurate translations to date.

There really isn't a difference between "old gospel" and "new gospel." The good news is simply that the kingdom has come near.

Dear sojourner, False teaching, but common with Cults who cannot support their views Scripturally. The Good News of the New Testament, which could NOT have taken place until AFTER Jesus died, was buried and arose the third day, according to the Scriptures. 1Co 15:3-4 Faith in the Gospel of Jesus IS the power of God unto Salvation. Rom 1:16 The FAITH to believe the above Gospel of Jesus Christ MUST come from the Father. Jhn 6:44

FYI, It's a New Testament because it's the Will of the deceased, the testator. His name is Jesus. Heb 9:16-17 Scripture instructs me NOT to wish you god speed. 2Jo 1:10-11

Dear sojourner, Welcome to the real world of Christianity. You cannot refute anything posted because of your Scriptural illiteracy, probably caused by studying the theology of ancient goatherders. You're not fooling anyone because everyone can see your inability to actually debate. God Bless you.
