The Interview

I can't stand Seth Rogen movies. The only interest this one aroused in me was the fact it really pissed of Kim Jong Un. But considering I have not liked any of his movies, and I really don't care much for Franco either, I doubt I ever get around to watching it.

I think its a scandal that even President Obama got involved in promoting this movie, from what I've heard it complete utter B grade hollywood trash, the scandal of which could actually **** off North Korea to even drop a nuclear bomb, You don't joke around with people that have nuclear bombs, no matter how much you hate them.
The movie should have been banned.

Now a good documentary style story about life in North Korea, I can see that being worth defending, but this movie?? nonsense.....

Can anything better really be expected from a dumbed down country like the US? America calls it 'free speech'. I call it hate speech with license.

There were people in the studio feeling that it was not worth the trouble of releasing the movie. High Art it probably isn't.

The latest film "Moses" is now also banned in Morocco, and Egypt, partly because Caucasian actors were used to portray Middle Easterners, and it claimed the Jews in captive were the ones who built the pyramids, also for portraying a prophet of Islam, Moses(pbuh) in pictured form, strict Muslims are against pictures of people and prophets especially, there are no original paintings of the prophet Mohammed(pbuh) for Muslims consider it a form of idolatry.

I like the fact that they didn't cancel it despite the threats, sends a powerful message: you can't make us do what you want + will make the world laugh at you too.

I feel it was appropriate to announce that we won't be bullied by a foreign nation who doesn't understand satire into giving up our rights.

Except they wouldn't dare drop a nuclear bomb because China would not likely react well to nuclear warfare next door, and the rest of the world probably wouldn't like it either. It's that "mutually assured destruction" thing that got the infantile leaders of America and Russia through the Cold War without obliterating each other.

How would you like it if someone made a video about blowing up your head, its seems very rude, and distasteful. And what if it was someone that hated you and you hated them, would you just brush it off, what it is not is diplomacy!!

It's one thing to bad mouth someone for their behavior, but another when you broadcast it via public media. That is not our way. We should be using our intelligence and diplomacy to bring North Korea around. If Dennis Rodman can get a pass to go sit right next to him and even make him smile, what's wrong with us? In the sixties, we sent out jazz musicians as a means of cultural exchange. We've forgotten how to be savvy. They must have put dumb down powder in the water supply. We keep pushing our weight around the globe as if we can afford that luxury. Let's STFU and turn our attention inwards to our own horrendous problems instead of pretending we are oh so fair and just and exercising the Hero Myth. The world is sick of us.

First, I'd realize the movie is a comedy. Second, I'd realize it's a couple of actors and a small crew, hardly anyone one worth getting worked up over. Third, I'd have more important things to do. Fourth, I'd rather look like the "bigger person" and show a strong, secure, and proud character by allowing freedom of speech, so long as there are no explicit calls for violence and discrimination, rather than look like a pathetic worm by throwing a temper-tantrum and making threats. Sixth, I realize how controversy sells, and if I didn't want people to watch something I wouldn't tell them about it, which will only make them want to go watch it. Someday we may learn that if you want to protest something and decrease its sells, you can't get its name plastered all over the TV (and internet for todays society) because that only provides a gold mine of free advertisement. Shock and controversy sell; we just haven't realized it yet. And if you're going to be a leader of a nation and you can't take criticism without making threats, then perhaps you shouldn't be leading anyone. But that is one thing that separates a free society where people can freely speak their minds within reason, from a dictatorship ruled by an iron fist that tries to control what people say.

But isn't president Obama, by supporting the release of the movie making a threat against N Korea. Albeit a non physical threat?

It's a movie that makes fun from a someone who recently banned using his name, kill any one who watchs a SK or an amercan show.. doesn't allow the public to use the Internet or any free channel. . I wouldn' expect a conversation with someone like that, of course we cant reach the public, because of him.
Kim/NK government are a great example for personalty cult..making fun of that figure is a great way to oppose that.

I could care less.

It isn't as though this is the first ever video that showed someones head exploding.

What threat?
That North Korea isn't going to dictate to the USA what it can and cannot produce?

Or a powerful dictator being killed, or a political figure being killed. It's an old movie tradition.

Trivia: When the Michael Moore puppet in TAWP was blown up, it was stuffed with ham.

N Korea made threats against America. N Korea launched a cyber attack against an American company.
Flipping them a metaphorical bird and encouraging plans to go on as expected (in this case, releasing a movie) is not making a threat, but is saying we wont be bullied and will not give into such petty demands nor allow a dictator to extent its iron grip here.
