That makes sense and goes with what I've said that the popular texts are what would have survived.

The unpopular texts were like the enemy's history books. And in those days, it was lots easier to completely destroy the libraries of your enemy.

Even today, the Mormon Church is accused of buying up inconvenient historical texts and putting them under their basement filing cabinets. They got caught up in an interesting fraud several years back.

With this single truth in mind, how can anyone think himself capable of sussing out the truth of early Christianity?

By the way, has anyone seen the cover of this month's NatGeo? The feature article is: SEARCHING FOR THE REAL CLEOPATRA. ("THE REAL" is red-texted.)

Hey... at least it sells books.

I think fallingblood was discussing our mythical selves and not our historical selves...

He will never uncover the historical AmbiguousGuy. I don't even know that guy myself.

But the mythical AmbigGuy will live forever with the Gods, for all to enjoy.

I have a four year old and I do just fine.

Could you do me a favor? Unless you actually want to have an intelligent discussion about whatever topic a given thread was intended for, could you stop replying to my posts?

I have read the E at Delphi, but I can't I'm the most familiar with it anymore (it was a while go).

I tried looking for the books you mentioned, but I couldn't find any place selling them. I did read some excerpts, but only on Google books.

They are available through Books-a-million, but they are expensive - $150++.

I didn't buy them - I read them in the library.

And you most likely wouldn't understand any of them.

Very true. We have no hope of understanding those who do not yet understand themselves. But I think you're being a bit hard on the Biblical scholars. We might consider their work worthless, but so long as they pay their bills, I have no problem with them.

First off, acquaint yourself with the meaning of the words "Scholar" and "Consensus".

Once you've done that we can go from there.

Oh, I think it's clear that you and I are going nowhere, Quagmire. First we have to deal with the chip.

Nope. You were suggesting that "Conservative Christian" was somehow a synonym for Bible scholar. Again: you need to look up the word "scholar".

See what I mean. The darned thing is still growing. I'm not sure I even have the strength to knock it off at this stage. You need to give me time to wear it down to a manageable size. Say... a firewood chunk?

Once you do, if the problem still isn't clear to you, let me know and I'll do my best to explain.

Jeez... you're really hot, aren't you. Something I've said?

The only thing you're trying here is everyone's patience. :)

I think you should take a deep breath. I'm sorry. That's what I really think.

Sorry, I don't have a whole lot of patience for anyone who comes into these forums just to play a lot of prissy little games.

And at this point I'm almost certain you're a returned banned troll.
