Anyone heard of Stanley Milgram? Look him up if you have not
He ran some very "interesting" experiments - even the most moral of us can become raging Nazis quite easily
And I am proof - I was told by an African-American coworker that since I was not of his faith, I would be going to hell
But obviously not just me, my loved ones, people like myself
What is our "crime"? our faith or lack of it!
I can imagine an afterworld where billions of us are set apart & callously dumped into gas chambers in hell
yes gas chambers because that is exactly what happened to the Jews
Their "crime" was their faith/religion(yes Whoopie was right) and based on that alone, they were all dumped into gas chambers
My co-worker coolly told me that is what awaits me, like he was discussing the weather
The fact that these are human beings - with loved ones - entire families, women, children, even babies - did not faze him one bit!
And to top this off he was African-American - a man who faced discrimination in this country
Segregated establishments based on skin color was wrong but segregated Heaven for just his religious people? Fine and dandy
And others must not just be kept out, no sir, they must suffer! terribly!
What changed? Well, he went from a minority black, suffering discrimination and being able to do nothing about it, to being part of the majority religion and just like that he was happy to embrace all the hate that his religion taught him
From a black man railing against racism & discrimination to a raging Nazi that quick
And not even realize it!
.
We can be pure evil particularly when it comes to animals but we don't even think about it
How many see fishing as cruel? Try imagining a hook put thru your jaw and you being yanked around, blood flowing freely, the pain!
Imagine a dog or a child in that state! Would we not call it bone chilling cruelty?
And whoops of glee from the other side - even Kids don't realize they are torturing the poor animal
But the fish does not have vocal chords - it cannot tell us that it is in pain & so we don't care!
There are so many other instances of animal and human cruelty where we simply do not care!
Biased media is a reality, I get censored so much when I point out their bias

This was a horrible proposal [that the eight-year-old Albert join a friend in killing birds with a sling...] ... but I dared not refuse for fear he would laugh at me.
So we came to a tree which was still bare, and on which the birds were singing out gaily in the morning, without any fear of us.
Then stooping over like an Indian on the hunt, my companion placed a pebble in the leather of his sling and stretched it. Obeying his peremptory glance I did the same, with frightful twinges of conscience, vowing firmly that I would shoot when he did.
At that very moment the church bells began to sound, mingling with the song of the birds in the sunshine. It was the warning bell that came a half-hour before the main bell. For me it was a voice from heaven.
I threw the sling down, scaring the birds away so that they were safe from my companion's sling, and fled home.
And ever afterwards when the bells of Holy week ring out amidst the leafless trees in the sunshine I remember with moving gratitude how they rang into my heart at that time the commandment 'Thou shalt not kill'
- From 'Memoirs of Childhood and Youth by Dr Albert Schweitzer
What happens to unbelievers? Entire families, women, children, even babies?
Why was Giordano Bruno Killed? And the Mayans?
Why is "God" dividing people based on who believes and supports him? Do morals, values, who we are as people not matter?

How to Be A Good Person in 2023

1. Always be kind

What makes a good person is the fact that they’re always kind. Kindness doesn’t need to be insincere. If you have nothing nice to say to someone, you don’t need to speak. Only speak when you have something to say that’s positive and thoughtful. You can be kind to people in so many ways. Holding the door open for someone is a small way to be kind that takes little effort. Wishing someone a happy birthday when you know it’s their special day is another way to be kind. Praising a coworker’s idea when they share something that will help is always a kind thing to do. Active listening is a really great way to be kind to someone when they speak to you. You can try this loving-kindness meditation to show love and kindness to the people in your life.

Cheers!

Too often the trend in our society is for people to be separated from either other, to be cut off from the great mass of humanity, and in doing so to be dehumanized a little bit more with each step.

Cars have taken us off the streets, where we used to greet each other and stop to chat. Cubicles have taken away a bit of the humanity in working, as have factories and even computers to some extent. Television has planted us firmly in our living rooms, instead of out with other people. Even movie theaters, where many people get together, cut us off from true conversation because we’re staring at a big screen.

Why You Should Be Kind to Difficult People

Most days we find ourselves up close to someone we’d rather not deal with. (And often it’s a family member or friend!) Perhaps the person is critical of you or angry. Or he or she is in a bad mood and keeps complaining. Or maybe it’s someone who is emotionally needy and seems to suck the life out of you.

Are you normally able to offer a blessing to someone like this? To bless the one who has “cursed you” as Jesus taught? (Matthew 5:44, Luke 6:28).

Many sincere Christians are not able to be kind to difficult people. Interacting with someone unpleasant disturbs their peace and causes them to react in ways that are not loving.

If you're wondering how to help a homeless person on the street, this list of great ideas will help you and your kids understand how to help the homeless where you live.

In September of 2007 Jon Linton began gathering imagery to document the homeless on the streets of Phoenix Arizona. That Fall he had volunteered both time and resources at a local homeless shelter to better understand the circumstance and plight of those without a place to call home. His project took shape, when the first man he photographed wept as he asked him his name. “You have no idea how long it has been since someone cared to ask my name”, he stated.

Through the course of this journey Jon has met many souls that through a bad set of circumstances, addiction or mental illness find themselves without a door to walk through at day’s end. They had fallen into what some had referred to as an “Invisible World". The I Have a Name Project is a humble attempt to bring dignity and humanity to those less fortunate among us.

Jon encourages you to go out and help another in need. He says your soul will thank you and reminds you to always practice compassion with these 10 tips that will help you better understand how you can help someone on the street.

Nurturing empathy is a big part of teaching about kindness. To do that, it's more effective for students to take part in intentional acts of kindness rather than random good deeds. Being purposeful about kindness teaches students to think about and consider others more deeply.

When children are learning to embrace kindness as a way of life, they should learn to be conscious about their decisions. Random acts of kindness imply that acts of good will are flippant, spur of the moment gestures. They’re important and appreciated but not as impactful as intentional kindness.

Deliberate acts of kindness require students to be thoughtful, considerate, and empathic. Taking time to think about what a person likes or needs helps them understand them better and connect on a deeper level.

Encouraging students to reflect upon and perform intentional acts of kindness develops perspective-taking, increased social membership, and a structured way of encouraging kindness within the school context.

ofhsoupkitchen.org Christian virtues

In an age where we can pick a fight with a stranger we haven’t even seen in person, kindness seems like an option more than a virtue. We tend to be kind only to those people we like and block those we hate. It’s become easier for us to criticize people for their faults without even acknowledging the good things they’ve done.

Is this really the kind of world we want the next generation to inherit?

In the bible, it says:

“A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.” (Proverbs 11:17)

Quotes About Making a Difference

“There is always light, if only we're brave enough to see it. If only we are brave enough to be it.”

Amanda Gorman

“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say it’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem, then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.”

Fred Rogers

“When you see something that is not just, not fair, or not right, you have to do something. You have to say something. Make a little noise. It's time for us to get into good trouble, necessary trouble.”

John Lewis

Everywhere we turn, there are individuals struggling to get through the day. And for the most, people simply walk on by. Too busy in their own lives to stop. Too wrapped up in their own problems to care.

But if just one person, if you or I, made more time to help, to put aside our own agendas and give back a little, we really could make a difference. And whilst you might think that helping just one person won’t change the world, it could in fact change that one person’s world.

Words of encouragement can help you think straight and get back on your feet. They are not just for you to ponder on, but for you to use as well whenever a friend is in need. They work for everyone – anytime, anywhere.

First, we give you words of support and strength that may uplift your spirit and give you the courage you need. They are words of inspiration and encouragement from people who have experienced their own struggles and eventually turned the tides.

Also from the happier human site -

“Everyone has inside them a piece of good news. The good news is you don’t know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is.”
