The Kindness Box

The following comes from Dr. Susanne Freeborn:

Kindness: I seek to know the Truth and kindly express it.

Who among us hasn't thought that they had an exclusive license on "the Truth"? How often have you heard someone refer to "my Truth" and wondered to yourself how anyone else could have an independent Truth that didn't line up with "the Truth" as you saw it?

So how do we know when we are standing in the presence of Truth? Each of us has his or her own way of encountering or accessing Truth. If we think of Truth being one way that we encounter and KNOW God, or the Divine, we have then only to recognize that the Truth is in all of us expressing as clearly as our present capacity to express Truth allows. Knowing that, combined with the Patience we described yesterday, gives each of us the room to do the best that we can and to see that everyone else is doing the best that they can too. Who knows, what seems to be true today may tomorrow reveal itself to be simply a part of what you had to think on the way to discovering a richer and deeper experience of Truth itself.

Speaking ones Truth calls for a kindness in expression, for tomorrow, more may be revealed to us and what seems so absolutely true today may be seen as merely a partial revelation of a greater truth tomorrow.

Each of us is working our way closer and closer to knowing and clearly expressing what is Sacred in life. We are inhabited by this Truth that we are coming to know and practicing its presence day by day.

"I will say that as I get older and calmer and quieter in my own self, the one quality in a woman that I find more and more attractive is kindness. A sense of adventure and humor is important too, but I truly find kindness and consideration for others to be the most attractive thing in anyone."

Not sure if this is already in the thread ...

Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.

Loving-kindness meditation -

In our culture, people find it difficult to direct loving-kindness to themselves. We may feel that we are unworthy, or that it’s egotistical, or that we shouldn’t be happy when other people are suffering. So rather than start loving-kindness practice with ourselves, which is traditional, I find it more helpful to start with those we most naturally love and care about. One of the beautiful principles of compassion and loving-kindness practices is that we start where it works, where it’s easiest. We open our heart in the most natural way, then direct our loving-kindness little by little to the areas where it’s more difficult.

Kindness blog

Celebrating the angels of kindness that walk among us every day. These are the people who freely give their help, that lend a listening ear to a sad soul’s tragic tale, that share what resources they have, that tolerate, that seek to understand another person’s plight and actively work to uplift others from poverty, oppression and loss.
