I found the movie a snooze fest....fell asleep twice.
Lots'o action & special effects, but the dialogue was wooden,
the characters not well fleshed out, & the story not compelling.
And the acting....they all seemed to be really acting hard.

But after the movie concluded, I headed out at 12:30am to
do some donuts with the old Vibe in an empty parking lot.
That was fun.

I loved it! It was phenomenal and I would easily see it again at the cinema if I had the money!

I feel like the new star wars triology is a lot like marmite. You either love it or you hate it.

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
It makes me wonder what episode nine will be about. Mixed feelings I got on this movie. I grew up with these movies. It definitely holds your attention.

Love everyone, meditate often
I am going to give it 10/10. For the less serious science fiction/ fantasy genre (i.e. not Arrival) it is one the best directed, best acted, both thoughtful and visually splendid movie I have seen. Significantly better than Star Trek and even much much better than any of the Marvel movies. With this movie, Star Wars have recaptured the sense of uniqueness and strangely "believability in depth" that very few high (science or fantasy) fiction projects can achieve. This fictional universe and the characters in it makes sense, finally.

In terms of acting, everyone is good but special mentions

1) Adam Driver: Absolutely sensational as a complex, conflicted anti-hero. Hardest part ever, best one I have seen after Gollum. Marks: O (Outstanding)

2) Mark Hamill : Superb as the bitter cranky legend of legends. A highly fleshed out performance. Unless Anthony Hopkins comes along to reprise this role, difficult to envisage how it could be bettered. Marks: Outstanding

3) Carrie Fisher: Brings to life a dignity and gravitas along with a bottomless pathos of having lost so much. Entirely believable as the core around which the rebellion revolves. Marks: O (Outstanding).

4) Daisy Ridley : We know she is good from the first movie. Here, she continues this admirably. Somehow, however she acts like Emma Watson in the Harry Potter movies. Marks: Exceeds Expectations.

Your thoughts?
I thought it was alright.

I enjoyed it overall. I still think Rogue One is my favorite though. A star wars story not focused around Jedi was refreshing and the cinematography was lovely.

Having seen the original movie in the theater three times, I would say...I would see this one in the theater three times as well.

I like to think of myself as part of the original generation that "grew up" on Star Wars and I am more than pleased with the latest movie.

The most important thing is the spiritual angle I think and Rey and Ben/Kylo's interaction sets the stage. Also the themes of...

  • anyone as a potential embodiment of the Force
  • failure as the great teacher
  • the complexity of the world and the difficulty of separating what is good from what is evil fairly
  • fighting to save what you love rather than to defeat what you hate
  • heroic acts don't always work
  • one can appreciate a person who disagrees with you ever defies your authority
Awesome stuff

I enjoyed the movie very much, but it drags in the middle.
