I don't keep fridges too long.
Efficiency improvements make them
obsolete even when they still work.
And of course, kitchen remodels
demand newer & better.

In years past, savings quickly paid for the new fridge.
We do.
Consider also that in your home you pay for it with after-tax-money.
So investing in energy saving appliances is not only green, it typically
offers a better return than investments with taxed returns (& risk).
Coffee and cake. I shouldn't eat so much cake, but at least I'm having it for breakfast and not supper.
